What the film lacks in terms of intrigue and suspense, it tries to make up for with slick visuals. But it’s hard to remain engaged in a thriller that has no place for basic logic. Packed with clichés that make you cringe and plot-holes the size of craters, Game is a colossal bore. The film’s first half in particular is a test of your patience as it involves so much banal talking that you want to stuff cotton in your ears. The second half is just silly chases and pointless flashbacks involving newcomer Sarah Jane Dias’ character, who plays the murdered girl at the heart of this story. The only respite in Game is some eye-watering photography, a thrilling foot chase sequence in Istanbul, and a surprisingly understated romantic track involving Abhishek Bachchan’s character. Unfortunately that’s not enough to save this mess of a thriller.I’m going with a generous two out of five for director Abhinay Deo’s Game.

The problem with GAME is manifold. First and foremost, first-time storyteller Abhinay Deo serves a slick-flick that's devoid of meat.Another problem with the film is that the screenplay  goes for a toss after an electrifying first hour.While the first hour succeeds in holding your attention thanks to the interesting twists and turnsand flows like a breeze, the second hour simply tests your patience. It's puzzling and confusing, with everyone pretending to be Sherlock Holmes. Moreover, the second hour is formulaic and takes the most convenient route to reach the finale. The finale is so weird and amateurish that one wonders, how did the director and such experienced producers approve it at the script level itself?.On the whole GAME is high on style but low on substance

Okay, Game has the looks of a stylish film and is peppered with all the prettiness that goes with big bottom lined bonanzas. The frames look glossy, the locales are exotic and the characters are well coiffured. But they all come across as a bunch of confused souls, caught in a cross-country race, minus conviction.The film predominantly suffers from a lack-lustre script which often borders on the corny Jet age print journalism, this! Too many loose ends and unanswered questions coupled with characters that completely lack a growth chart reduces Game to a mediocre watch, with predictable twists and turns.

At one point in Game, Kangna Ranaut, playing Sia, an officer with something called the International Vigilance Squad, exasperatedly asks: What the bloody hell is going on? My sentiments exactly!.Strangers, secrets, murder and revenge in a confined space should equal entertainment but Game is convoluted and incoherent.I’m not looking for realism here but a whodunit has to be consistent with its own logic. In Game, anything goes.Characters behave randomly and at the end, when you try to tie it all together, it unravels even more.The actors veer between looking bewildered and grim and the only one who makes any impression is Kangna who brings some energy into this leaden enterprise. I’m going with two stars.

.Debutant director Abhinay Deo's Game is one such dim effort.  Gloss overkill, however, isn't one of Game's only issues. The purported thriller is mostly let down by its outlandish story and screenplay. In place of building a sleek whodunit around dark objectives and premeditated interlinks, Kaushal is preoccupied in magnifying the scale by picking a random bunch of exotic/mainstream countries and forcibly enmeshing its hand-picked inhabitants in a crime labyrinth against a dated motive. For its entire obsession with ambiance, Game is, at heart, a frustratingly old-fashioned murder mystery. If you're the kind who follows the genre keenly, by second act, you'll have figured out the wild card and the culprit. Question is do you want to?

Watching Game feels like you are at the receiving end of a very sick joke. It's a murder mystery, so keeping you slightly confused comes with the package, but you hope for the pieces to fall in place eventually. In the process, you are initially confused, then befuddled and then, exasperated.And when the suspense is revealed, you want to take a stick and beat yourself up till you bleed. A number of plot points all open up in Game within minutes of each other. The makers may want you to believe that story is moving fast, but nothing really happens for the longest time.Game Over', though, is what you really look forward to.

Game’ is a good Bollywood example of a bad Hollywood film : all slick surface, nothing underneath. What sets out to be a racy thriller soon turns into a series of picture postcard locations where a bunch of people come and go, fruitlessly and cluelessly, leaving you in a state of weary astonishment.‘Game’ fetches up to the climactic point, only wanting an answer to a pointed question asked, too late, in the film : what the b—y hell is going on? That mystery remains unsolved.
