MLA Movie Review

Ratings:2/5 Reviewer:Allen O Brien Site:Times Of India
A few minutes into the movie and you realise there is ample scope to generate a something (burning issues of utmost importance) out of nothing (a cast and movie pretty unheard of). But all is lost to the too-many-loopholes in the script. The big fight turns into a clash of the egos between MLA Kay Kay ( Mukesh Tiwari) and industrialist Anuj ( Chaitanya Naidu). The idea of setting up a milk factory is lost to the tycoon's foreign-return girlfriend, Anna ( Ana Kanandadze). Finally, it's the performances that leave you very disappointed.

I had hopes from this film. Even though the main cast was unknown to me and the plot didn’t seem too strong, I had some hopes. My hopes were pegged on Omkar Das Manikpuri, who played the role of Nattha in Peepli Live! But alas...The plot is not exactly genius but that can be forgiven. The rest, however, cannot. Anything is better than this one. Skip it… seriously.

MLA has everything- a typical Bollywood politician, who can kill anyone for his power, an archetypal corrupt cop and a brutally honest businessman. The story has nothing new to offer, but the treatment is impressive in patches. However, an extremely predictable tale takes away the chance of creating some breathtaking moments. The fact that it has nothing new to offer is the biggest drawback of the film, but the director has tried to induce few good moments as he makes his star cast perform. No big stars and a tremendously predictable story prove to be the biggest setbacks for the film. Gripping moments and beautiful interiors of the country are things that'll hold your attention.
