Visit Site for MoreJhootha Hi Sahi, directed by Abbas Tyrewala, is the kind of film that makes you embarrassed for everyone associated with it. It’s one of those films that might have been so bad that it’s good, except that it’s not even bad enough to be enjoyable!Written by the film’s leading lady Pakhi, who also happens to be Tyrewala’s wife, the script is hare-brained and predictable, and has neither the wit nor the charm to work as an engaging romantic-comedy.Much of the film’s problem lies with the fact that it’s trying too hard to be cool. Save for John Abraham who offers an earnest, endearing performance, and a few light moments between the friends, this film is a plodding bore. I’m going with one-and-a-half out of five for director Abbas Tyrewala’s amateurish Jhootha Hi Sahi. I’ve seen school plays that are more entertaining!

Sadly, Abbas Tyrewala's new offering JHOOTHA HI SAHI falls flat for this reason [it doesn't meet the expectations] as well as several other reasons. What comes across is unexciting, boring and lethargic. Moments make a love story work and JHOOTHA HI SAHI never reaches there. It lacks the fizz and heart, to put it bluntly. Also, the chemistry between the lead pair - John Abraham and Pakhi - is plastic. On the whole, JHOOTHA HI SAHI is an absolute letdown in terms of content.Final word? Thumbs down!Visit Site for More

Jhootha Hi Sahi may be a love story, but it's smartly written and told by the duo, Abbas Tyrewala and wife, Pakhi. The script has a few teasing twists and turns that do not let it fall into the rut of predictable run-of-the-mill romances.The parallel friendship -- and romance -- between the angst-ridden Mishka and the geeky bookstore employee Siddharth, who doubles up as the anonymous and wise helpline buddy, zigzags across the picturesque London backdrop in an engaging manner. The film largely follows the idiom which Abbas Tyrewala enunciated in his debut venture, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, reiterating his use of youthful lingo (strange becomes ajeebs here), wisecrack humour and `cool gang' bonding, with a celebration -- and a spoof -- of the traditional Bollywood `andaaz' (style) of essaying romance.a peppy music score by AR Rahman, a confident debut by Pakhi, a strong support cast and you have a fun-filled film waiting for you this weekend.Visit Site for More

For a script so hopelessly dependent on conversation, Jhootha Hi Sahi is one spark-free one on one.At the same time, dialogues go out of their way to emphasise on its heroine's implied good looks. Only Pakhi, with her hard expressions, and a warmth-exuding John share zero chemistry. That, plus her needy, indecisive and clingy Mishka dissuade you from making any connect; forget rooting for a happily ever-after. Disapproval aside, Pakhi ensures she gifts herself a rather elaborate, filmi climax around the majestic Tower Bridge, which is almost in the same over-the-top vein if not as endearing as the one in Jaane Tu...Yaa Jaane Na. And while Manoj Lobo's vibrant cinematography delivers a handsome visual package of the grand city, Jhootha Hi Sahi, save for the odd 'B' word or Indo-Pak camaraderie, doesn't really have an English bone in its body. The film has an unusual love story, written by Pakhi. The first half is very boring as the screenplay (Pakhi) gets repetitive and rather dull. The post-interval portion is slightly better as there is a little more drama then. However, Mishka being so undecisive gets on the audience’s nerves. The climax, too, is hardly exciting as the urgency for the lovers to meet is contrived and created rather than natural.The jokes between Siddharth and his friends are sometimes too class-appealing. Even the drama holds appeal for the city audience only. Although this is a love story, the romance hardly gladdens the heart. Likewise, emotions are completely missing because of which the audience doesn’t feel the pangs of separation whenSiddharth and Mishka break off.Visit Site for More

There is a sliver of a story here but Abbas has translated it into a clumsy film that never gets off the ground. The scenes have a strange, stagey awkwardness, almost like a bad television serial. John working every acting muscle in his body makes Sid endearing but the chemistry between him and Pakhi is flatter than his washboard abs. So much of the film is about friends and the support system they provide but the characters are so poorly etched that none leave an impression. In fact, this romcorn is absolutely na-na unless you want to tee-hee at some ‘inspired’ moments from Notting Hill, or believe in Bollywood’s recently coined theory that grown-up men break into a stammer on facing a woman they ostensibly love. L…lllllove actually?.Truly, you have to be a masochist to enjoy the trivial heart pings and pangs which Simple and Pills go through. Blame this largely on the screenplay authored by the Pakhi Tyrewala. Both as the heroine and writer, it’s her first time around, and it SHOWS. As for director Abbas Tyrewala, he merely cruises along, content to be passable and somehow wrap up the show. No two ways about it, then, the casting of Pakhi as the heroine is the enterprise’s fatal flaw. She isn’t right for the role which required far more vulnerability. At no point, does she evoke your unbridled empathy just like the rest of this Jhootha etc etc…zzzzzz.Visit Site for More
