Rajdhani Express Movie Review
Ratings:1.5/5 Review By: Taran Adarsh Site:BollywoodHungama
For a raconteur who's planning to relate a crime story, well, it's easy to plot a thriller in a train journey: A moving mode of transport, the terrain, the proximity to unfamiliar people... All you need is to lace the film with occurrences and incidents that would give the spectator goose bumps. RAJDHANI EXPRESS also uses this mode of transport [train] to narrate a story. In view of the fact that the genre is thriller, one expects smart lines and electrifying episodes, captivating goings-on and tension-filled moments, all seamlessly juxtaposed in the narrative to entice the spectator, but RAJDHANI EXPRESS does so half-heartedly.On the whole, RAJDHANI EXPRESS has its moments, but they are few and far between.Visit Site for more

It is impossible for me to process how this works. And it probably is beyond the realm of human comprehension to understand the rationale that goes behind funding these kinds of films. There has to be a definite motive, and at times like this, it isn't very obvious -- like to shame the Railway Ministry, or worse, the Anti-Terrorism Squad. Rajdhani Express, directed by Ashok Kohli, is a train-wreck of a movie that has a non-existent plot, but pretends as if it is a racy thriller.Visit Site for more

The film does speed up and changes track for the better towards the end, but the thrill comes too late. That pace was needed throughout the film. Gulshan Grover as Rajdhani's shudh Hindi-speaking ticket collector and Priyanshu Chatterjee are the only actors who manage to keep you engaged on this otherwise derailed express.Visit Site for more

There are a lot of stories that go wrong, that don’t play out the way the director conceives it, that has drawbacks that pull down the pace of the film but this one is so disjointed and incoherent that it makes you wonder what was Ashok Kohli thinking when he decided to make ‘Rajdhani Express’.Watch this film and tell me if Leander Paes should be allowed on any film set henceforth.Visit Site for more

What’s Good: An intriguing narrative and well bound story. What’s Bad: Lacks logic at many crucial points in the film and loose acting by many at large. Loo break: One (You need the interval to digest in the first half) Watch or Not?: If social dramas interest you, don’t miss this one. It is good for its subtlety in delivering a message which is quite loud in character. Given the present social scenario, this film will entice one to think about the current state of affairs in our nation. This film makes for a decent one time watch.Visit Site for more

Existentialism rarely translates to a good Bollywood movie, but this is one rare exception. Perhaps it’s the unapologetic nature of the script and the characters or perhaps it’s the way a subconscious message is delivered without someone screaming it in your face, but ‘Rajdhani Express’ works because it makes you reflect and think without really asking you to do so. If you like to reflect and want to watch a uniquely refreshing thought-provoking movie, go watch it.Visit Site for more
