'Ready' is strictly for die-hard Salman Khan fans  who're willing to forgive the fact that this tasteless, senseless film has no plot to speak of, yet lazily unfolds over two hours and thirty minutes. The problem with 'Ready' is that the film doesn't even try.To describe this film as paisa vasool or time pass is to confess that you really don't have a life. Because apart from two energetically filmed songs - 'Character dheela hai' and 'Dhinka chika' - this film offers little by way of entertainment. I'm going with a generous one-and-a-half out of five for director Anees Bazmee's 'Ready'. Salman Khan deserves better than this.

READY is a full-on entertainer, a paisa vasool film that has just one motive -- entertainment -- and it succeeds in its endeavor absolutely. On the whole, READY is strictly for the masses and for those who relish typically formulaic masala entertainers. The film prides itself with super music  gags and gimmicks aplenty and of course, Salman Khan, the beloved of the masses and the mainstay of this film. If you hero-worship Salman, you cannot afford to miss this one. Even if you don't hero-worship him, watch READY as a stress-busting therapy that makes you smile, laugh and break into guffaws in those two hours. .

Ready is an unabashed ode to Salman Khan, the entertainer rather than the actor. And yes, it works at that level. Sit back for a one-man show by an actor who is becoming increasingly unapologetic about his larger-than-life image on screen and you'll get all the bang for your buck you desire. So you have Salman doing everything he loves to do -- and you love to see.Yup, bahut mazaa aaya. But only if you set aside all pretensions of going for a regular, mind-teaser movie. Go celebrate the cornball comic display by Salman Khan. You won't get bored.

Ready should have just been called: Salman Khan. The film is essentially a one-man show by an actor, who doesn’t act. How much you enjoy Ready is directly proportionate to your affection for Salman and cheerfully cheesy, low-brow humour. Thankfully, Ready isn’t in the same soul-sucking category as director Anees Bazmee’s last two movies: Thank You and No Problem. But it still falls very much into his special brand of brain-dead, anything-for-a-laugh comedy.Ready made me laugh sporadically but beyond a point I could almost feel my brain cells shrinking and exhaustion setting in, one joke at a time. I’m going with two stars.

One of the most frequently repeated terms to describe and legitimise Bollywood's silliest products is "paisa vasool." This patronising yet appreciative phrase denotes giving up, the person using the term confessing that while the film in question is harebrained and stupid, it may still end up a sequel-spawning behemoth at the box office. Ready, as a result, falls flat for lack of trying. It is a film trying to coast on Salman while Salman tries to coast on his own star-wattage, and so we have a film with a first half that takes ages to get going and a second half that just doesn't end. Those who are clapping for Ready almost got the phrase right, only it's more extortionate than value for money: the accurate term is "paisa vasooli." Pay up.

While the first half largely revolves around Prem’s shenanigans, it comes packed with predictable jokes and innuendo. Ready is mindless but entertaining in parts. Expectations from the film were high considering the last film that featured the star was a blockbuster. Ready isn't a patch on Salman’s Wanted or Dabangg in terms of entertainment value. For Bazmee however, Ready is a vast improvement since his last film Thank You.If you're a Sallu fan, you won’t feel let down.

However, the storyline disappoints, giving glimpses of Salman’s yesteryears movie ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge’. There are few funny moments and a pretty decent showcase in the first half but second part is a major disappointment with unnecessarily dragging storyline.Salman, Salman and Salman’s songs act like a lifeline for the film. The storyline is predictable, and that too stretched a bit too long. We won’t recommend you to buy a ticket unless you are a Dabangg fan of Salman.

What’s Good: The comedy post-interval; the music; Salman Khan and Paresh Rawal’s acting; the emotional under-current of the comical drama. What’s Bad: The ordinary first half.Verdict: READY will score at the box-office, thanks to a great start, super-hit music, Salman Khan and entertainment in a good dose.Loo break: Not really.Watch or not?: Yes, if you want to be entertained. On the whole, Ready has taken a flying start from North to South and East to West and, in addition, it has masala to keep the masses and the family audiences entertained and happy.

The trouble with ‘Ready’, a remake of the same film made in several South Indian languages, is not that it doesn’t have any plot or any sense. We do not expect those to be the prime movers in a Bazmee line-up. But what really kills Ready is that its nonsense is neither inventive nor high energy. A massively buff, looking-his-age Salman doing his thing--- thrusting the pelvis, puffing the pectorals, plumping a shiny, waxed chest — is not enough.

Please don't go into the movie expecting sense. Or sensibility. Ready is pretty much a showcase for what Salman Khan does best-which is fight, dance, charm the girls, and laugh lazily at everyone. An assortment of ugly relatives, even uglier villains and a plot that makes no sense at all. None of it matters.
