Loot Movie Review

Working off a lazy script, director Rajnish Raj Thakur’s film borders on Chinese torture – the plot is pointlessly complicated, the dialogues are expectedly third-rate, and the performances, right from Mahesh Manjrekar to Ravi Kissen, Kim Sharma and singer Mika (making his acting debut), are so grating that sitting in the theatre, you feel as if someone has just run their nails down a blackboard.I’m going with a generous one out of five for  Loot.

As the reels of LOOT unfold, you realize the film doesn't stand on its feet after you are introduced to the four protagonists. Reason: The perennial problem that ails most films -- slapdash screenplay. In reality, it's not merely a screenplay of convenience, but the writing is so disjointed at times that even the fine acting and some witty lines get overlooked in the route. On the whole, LOOT is an 80s style masala fare that lacks smart writing and slick direction. At best, it may find some patronage from spectators who relish typical masala fares.

One more movie is set in sin city, Pattaya. So all the hullabaloo and seen-there-heard-that jokes are bound to stem from the sun, sand and sleaze destination. The good news, this one does not totally give itself to Thai-isms. The bad news, what takes away is the plethora of bikini babes and massage parlours: hardly an attention grabber. In short, too much chaos... and too many characters.

Shabbir’s story is so juvenile that it’s a wonder, a film has been based on it.Rajneesh Thakur’s direction is dull and routine. He has been able to make the film neither an entertaining drama nor an exciting fare. What’s Good: A few comic scenes. What’s Bad: The routine script; the rhyming dialogues. VerdictLoot fails to entertain.

Loot looks like an unfinished product from a group of actors and technicians who lost their way in transit. This one should have ideally remained in the cans. Just why Suniel invested into this piece of filmed garbage is anyone's guess.Really, you'd need nerves of steel to sit through this mishmash of misdirected mirth and over-done cockiness. The actors try hard not to look bored. The performances in this deflated farce are better than the recent "Rascals" where the actors tried hard to be funny. Here no one makes an effort except the dialogue writer

Loot lives up to its name. The film is a frame-by-frame rip-off of the Hollywood flick Crime Spree (2003) with not a single scene added or subtracted from its screenplay. Yet it doesn't offer the zillionth fraction of entertainment value that the original crime-comedy did. Loot robs you off some potential entertaining moments!. Loot isn't able to adapt the humour of the original and most of the gags are lost in translation and fall flat. Loot robs you off some potential entertaining moments!

The story of Loot offers nothing new, in fact it’s an old wine in an even older bottle. Within few minutes of screenplay, you realize that it’s definitely not going to be a fun ride and unfortunately the prediction comes true eventually. There are surely attempts to induce comedy in the flick, but the intentions go haywire, as the characters create chaos in the movie. The story is so dull that it fails to take the narration forward. Loot is not recommended unless you are a fan of multi-starrer movies. Another brownie point if you want to see Rakhi Sawant’s latka jhatkas!

The film has nothing to boast about. Absolutely nothing that can stand its fate at the box office. The story is not impressive neither has the director been able to present it well. A lot of situations in the film that are added for entertainment fail to garner any kind of praise. It’s a sheer waste of time watching this one. The film fails in all aspects. Be it the direction, the dialogues, music or the cinematography. The director fails to capture the scenic Pattaya also. Dialogues and sleazy and jokes are clichéd. A few scenes create a few giggles here and there. There is nothing novel about the film.
