'Chalo Dilli' starts off smoothly but becomes a repetitive and predictable mess when its writers fail to fully exploit the comic possibilities of such a ripe scenario. For laughs the script relies on farting and belching jokes, and the standard discomfort that arises when you throw a snotty diva and a pan-chewing hick together. Save for a few moments of inspired lunacy provided by Vinay Pathak, this is one bumpy ride you don’t need to take. CHALO DILLI is speckled with sharp and witty lines delivered with accurate timing by the amazing Vinay Pathak, who never disappoints you. He's the soul of the enterprise. On the whole, CHALO DILLI is exciting and amusing in parts. The film has some terrific moments, but the writing could've been more persuasive towards the post-interval portions. The story of Chalo Dilli may be simple, straight and sprinkled with all the predictable twists and turns you can envisage in a drama that pitches a snooty, spoilt woman against a desi Indian male.But hey, the film has so much soul, specially in the climax, it makes up for any shortcomings in story and vision. Also, the narrative has a sweet simplicity which transports you into the onscreen journey and makes you a willing witness to the bond-building between `bhaisaheb' and `behenji'.Visit Site for More

This could have been reasonably good fun if the characters and situations were even half-way interesting. But Shashant, working from a screenplay by Arshad Sayed, doesn’t give us much to go on. The characters are strictly stereotype. Vinay attempts to give Manu some texture but there is a sense of déjà vu in watching him play the bumbling, large-hearted Everyman yet again.Chalo Dilli strains hard to be uplifting and poignant but it doesn’t quite make it. The story is an interesting premise. A road trip which will irrevocably change the lives of at least one of the participants. But the trip is just the beginning. These films work if every kilometer of the journey throws up quirky characters and humorous touching incidents. Something we last saw in Jab We Met. (Yes Chalo Dilli is reminiscent of Imitiaz Ali's famous blockbuster). But it doesn't happen. See it if you adore either Lara Dutta or Vinay Pathak. Or else give it a miss.Visit Site for More

The first half is passable as the quirks and predictable yet funny situations entertain you in bits. The second half, however, is the downfall of the film as the director tries to pack in as many ‘fun’ and ‘entertaining’ elements as he can. The film — which in my humble opinion, should have ended at the interval.Chalo Dilli is a confused cocktail of Jab We Met, Bheja Fry, Dabangg and Delhi 6 with an item number thrown in. Director Shashant Shah had an interesting premise, but fails in its execution. The graph remains unidimensional, with hardly any engaging moments in the narrative. It fails miserably in the humour aspect. You are constantly treated to sad jokes by Manu, which make you cringe. The first half in particular, is very tiresome. With lack of engaging moments, CHALO DILLI eventually turns out to be a tiresome 'journey'.Visit Site for More

The film is a clear winner for its spontaneous dialogues that work well also for the timing. The music is bearable if not enjoyable, while Yana Gupta's gyrating stunner, 'Laila' might have many takers. The journey in the film also conveys the thrill of exploring the unknown and inspires one to plan a getaway to one of the many small-towns in India where the film is shot.So if you're up for some nonsensical fun and accidental comedy, chalo… to a multiplex near you.Visit Site for More
