Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya Movie Review

Ratings:3/5 Reviewer:Taran Adarsh Site:Bollywood Hungama
TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA is the third film that teams the two talents. This one ought to be their best, right? Well, Riteish and Genelia look great together, no two opinions on that, and the real-life husband-wife team get ample opportunity to sparkle in their third outing. There are hiccups too -- the film dips in the middle of the second hour -- but, thankfully, it comes alive towards the pre-climax moments, which leads to a winning finale. The credit, to a large extent, goes to Riteish and Genelia for rising beyond a commonplace screenplay. On the whole, TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA is refreshing and succeeds in its endeavor of amusing and entertaining, more particularly in its second hour. In addition, the sparkling performances by Riteish and Genelia is the mainstay of the film.

Breezy romantic comedies generally thrive on witty dialogues and the chemistry of the lead pair. And Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya does have some crackling gags and one-liners. Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya is one of those movies that you like for 10 minutes and then don't for the next 10. The cycle continues for long. But the climax is fairly engaging and the man who makes it happen is Om Puri. His rousing speech is what gives the movie its last burst of vitality.Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya is passable popcorn fare.

What’s Good: Several comedy scenes; the hit music; the family drama; the emotional drama. What’s Bad: Some clichéd comedy scenes; lack of justification for the love angle. Verdict: The entertaining second half and the hit music save Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and make it a plus fare for Tips and UTV. Loo break: A couple in the first half.Watch or Not?: Watch it for getting entertained.

With a story that mildly reminds you of Dil hai Ki maanta nahi and Bunty aur babli, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya isn't exactly original. The director doesn't shy fromusing cliches like dancing around trees and in the rain and somehow makes them work. There's something about this film that appeals to me, for I grew up watching DHKMN and the likes. The film has its flaws. There's over the top emotional drama, the drunken Genelia scene which is completely unbelievable and mildly irritating. Of course the film could have done without the forced item song, where Veena Malik's artificially abundant bosom tries to charm and fails, but other than that, this one's a fun, breezy watch.Don't over analyse, don't think too much, just go watch and have fun.

Okay, so the script may belong to to your grandma’s era but redeemingly there are some breezy segments which prevent you from committing harakiri over the frantic antics of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza. He dreams of driving his own cabs some day, she dreams of nothing special – except settling in Canada.Anyway, post-intermission, the roam-com wanders off into an entire different stratosphere, in the vein of Jab We Met. Directed competently – except for the garish colours and costumes – the result doesn’t offer anything distinctively appealing in terms of entertainment. Music is serviceable. All said and endured, it isn’t a shudderfiesta. If you have some goodwill for the Deshmukhs, it’ll help considerably.

The story isn't exactly original or unique. Yet another romantic comedy, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya is in many ways reminiscent of Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, and the more recent blockbuster Jab We Met.Director Mandeep Kumar's film manages to steer clear of major pitfalls. The twist in the tale is unpredictable. The first half even with a very limited screenplay keeps the viewer engaged. The serious flaw is the dialogues by Dhieyo Sandhu. Some are really funny but there are too many inane, trite, one-liners.Though the climax is breezy and fun, it's the 20-odd minutes before it, where emotions and tears have been ladled out in generous doses that is irritating. It's too much saccharine in a film which otherwise retains a frothy, smooth texture.

Director Mandeep Kumar sets up believable situations, which keeps the film constantly moving. In the process, he extracts some fine performances from the two lead actors as well as the supporting cast. Where Mandeep falls short, however, is in the length of the film. A good 20 minutes chopped off would have given the film that gilt-edge. Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya could have been a good Valentine's Day release. Also, coming soon after the Riteish Geneila marriage, it would have added as a curiosity factor. All the same, this is a fun film worth a watch.
