Yeh Saali Zindagi takes long to arrive at its central conflict, and could have done with fewer indulgences like Irrfan’s stream-of-consciousness voice-overs. In the film’s early scenes Mishra seems to pride himself on confusing the viewer with a narrative and characters that are hard to follow.Nevertheless, he spins a wholly engaging yarn using an excellent music score and actors that are arresting.Yeh Saali Zindagi takes its time to unfold, but it’s a delicious little treat if you muster the patience for it. Under its rough exterior of criminals and gunshots, is a tale of slow-burning passion and unconditional love.I’m going with three out of five for writer-director Sudhir Mishra’s Yeh Saali Zindagi. Give it a chance, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

On the whole, YEH SAALI ZINDAGI is a striking example of new age cinema. A daring film with a brand new approach, it's impulsive and engaging with skilful direction and power-packed performances as its strong points. This is one more solid attempt that takes the graph of Hindi cinema to a greater level. Sudhir Mishra has worked on a taut screenplay to ensure that at no point in those 2 hours monotony sets in. Multiple stories are running concurrently, but unlike other films, these stories are linked to each other till the very conclusion. There're twists aplenty and the punches that come at regular intervals startle you since they don't follow the set blueprint that most Hindi films follow. But the film is not without blemishes. One, Mishra should've ensured that the narrative unfolded in the most simplistic manner, for there are sequences which leave behind queries and come across as difficult to comprehend.

Mishra's script not only keeps you entertained with its umpteen twists and turns, it also pays due respect to the intelligence of the viewer. Like Kaminey, Yeh Saali Zindagi too expects the viewer to shake off his lethargy, catch the stray dialogue, understand the intonations and figure out the nuances of a screenplay that doesn't believe in spilling all the beans, all at once.It does sound a bit confusing but if you're alert and attentive, you're going to love this merry-go-round. Specially since the ensemble cast breathes fire and passion in their performances. Dark, devious and different, Yeh Saali Zindagi is brain-and-brawn drama. Wish the Censor hadn't beeped so much

Writer-director Sudhir Mishra’s Yeh Saali Zindagi is the most twisted love story you’ll see this year. There are so many characters, sub- plots, voice-overs, flash-backs, intrigues and counter-intrigues that you will need a master-guide to keep it straight. The film is much too long, indulgent and exhausting but if you’re willing to work with it, there is considerable fun to be had.Eventually then, Yeh Saali Zindagi doesn’t hit all the high marks it sets for itself but it provides enough crackle to keep you entertained. Check it out.

This motley crew inhabit Mishra’s somewhat convoluted noir thriller, in which the double and triple-crosses keep multiplying till you’ve run short of your fingers and toes. Yup, it does get very complicated but what the hell, still the result is a pretty engrossing mind-teaser. Can’t leave your brains at home for this one. Be warned though: the unusual suspects here are not everyone’s cup of lopchu. They have their demons and empty spaces to deal with. Yeh Khaali Zindagi perhaps? But then whose zindagi isn’t – to a degree?

Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra's Yeh Saali Zindagi can be compared to one such tongue-twister. It's a fairly simple plot interspersed with tricky turns and narrated at a breakneck speed. While the genre is comfortably familiar, Mishra's treatment is refreshingly zany. In place of gloss and gimmicks, the director-story and screenplay writer unearths the underhandedness and layers that constitute his protagonists (and there are a whole lot of them, mind you!) with such dedicated precision and subtext, it's stimulating to stay in sync. The idea is to project mess and chaos. Indeed surplus characters and subplots often make YSZ an overwhelming experience to endure. But if you are up for the challenge to explore Delhi's shifty facet, it's rewarding too. What's most fascinating is how everyone has a sense of humour about their situation, which is inevitably on the sticky side. Saali or sane, this Zindagi rocks.

The chatty dialogue and peppy music make Yeh Saali Zindagi an enjoyable watch. Khan’s trademark underplay and the Delhi-style dialogue delivery with a generous dose of expletives enthralls the audience. You even laugh at his perspective of life. The shifting of scenes between various cities gets confusing and even annoying at times. There are so many people in Yeh Saali Zindagi, that after a point you wonder ‘who’s missing?’. The numerous locations and heavily populated star-cast makes it difficult for the audience to fathom the story. With a little bit of patience,Yeh Saali Zindagi is not a bad choice for this weekend at all. However, if patience is not one of your virtues, wait for the television premier.

Yeh Saali Zindagi is like a blueberry cheesecake. A delightful little trifle that works because the actors don't think they are auditioning for a consumer ad or a fashion glossy photo shoot. A love story set in Delhi's underbelly of politicians with Swiss bank accounts, criminals with Russian contacts, farmhouses with odd goings-on and Tihar jail inmates who are freer than free birds, it flies off the page thanks to actors who look as if they mean business. Fun.

The film, just like life, is replete with unexpected twists and never ceases to amaze! The narrative never loses steam, despite the frequent flashbacks. Sudhir precisely handles the romantic tracks and the thrilling portions. Although there's a lot of foul language in the film, it goes well with the local Delhi milieu. The MATRIX type climax is good fun to watch.YEH SAALI ZINDAGI is a racy entertainer which blends the right amount of romance, comedy and thrill. You will regret throughout your zindagi for missing this one!
