Tere Mere Phere Movie Review

The film has no script to speak of, merely a string of arguments and quarrels in place of a story. To add to that, the performances are so embarrassing, it’s as if the four principal players were competing in a championship for bad acting. Tere Mere Phere offers no great insights into man-woman relationships, and neither are the couple’s clashes in any way amusing.I’m going with one out of five for Deepa Sahi’s Tere Mere Phere. Carry cotton to protect your eardrums from the shrieking, shouting, and incessant arguing.

TERE MERE PHERE is a comic look at the battle of the sexes.Though Deepa has made a sincere effort to tell a story that has its share of fun moments, a number of sequences in the movie seem so far-fetched that they are too difficult to absorb at times and that, frankly, is a downer. The constant war of words between the newly-married couple looks like a farce in an otherwise real-life scenario. Also, the arguments and constant bickering get on your nerves after a point and monotony sets in. On the whole, TERE MERE PHERE manages to raise a few laughs, but that's not enough. One expected more!

Deepa Sahi makes a spirited debut as a director with Tere Mere Phere. No, she's not telling you a great story and doesn't pretend to do so either. All she wants to do is capture the quirks of the human psyche and make you chuckle while she builds her foursome of charming characters who fumble their way through the highs and lows of love and longing. The altercations are sweet, the comedy subtle and the backdrop (Himachal, untapped) majestic. Enjoy.

Tere Mere Phere is the kind of film where the embarrassing performances by the lead pair fail a genuinely well-thought story.Final word: Tere Mere Phere is set on a premise that had enormous potential to pass off as a great romantic comedy which at the same time mirrors prevailing zaniness of the young. A talented cast could have taken the film many notches up; slightly improved writing, and direction would have made the deal even sweeter.Right now, Tere Mere Phere passes only in persistently bad acting and that it does by distinction.

Tere Mere Phere is not only a romantic comedy, it is a black comedy, slapstick comedy, satire, comedy of manners, screwball comedy -- all rolled in one. Deepa's attempt to weave in every sub-genre of comedy is probably the nemesis of the movie. The first half of the film is just tolerable. The second half has its moments of extreme comedy. The end is equally disappointing leaving the viewers wondering as to why you wanted to witness this meaningless marriage.

Tere Mere Phere, is a dull affair in terms of story-telling. What makes matters worse, is the poorly written screenplay. In fact, first 20 minutes decide the fate of the film, as the rest of it does nothing, but tests the patience of the viewer. The entire film focuses on the fights between the protagonists and this aspect bores one to death. The new entrants do justice to their roles, but the monotonous moments take away their effort. Vinay Pathak breathes life in the film with his funny acts, but he can’t be the savior here, as he gets little scope in the first half.Performances, beautiful locales and cinematography are the strong points. Sadly, a thin storyline, overtly dragged screenplay and boring dialogues make it a film, which can’t be recommended on any condition.

Tere Mere Phere is definitely not fit in the age of commercial entertainers that are made by today’s film makers. Even a few films made in the 90s were better than this one. Yes it does has its moment of fun in terms of a few dialogues that manage to create giggles. But rest it is plain irritating because of the lead couple keeps whining as if they have no other job. The first half is totally over the top whereas the second half shows some improvement only to disappoint at the end.Final Word: Can be skipped

There's a lot of screeching and a whole lot of screaming. Not to mention bad acting. There's a story, but no plot. For the record, this is Deepa Sahi's directorial debut.TERE MERE PHERE leaves you in a spin!. Taking the director's baton for the first time, Deepa falls flat. TERE MERE PHERE is a merry-go-round, which leaves you a bit wobbly in the head.
