"Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun" ambitiously tries to be India's answer to "Brokeback Mountain". Unfortunately, to even refer to "Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun" as a film would be stretching the truth. It's unlikely that you've ever seen a movie as absurd as this. In fact, this film's script, written by its lead actor Kapil Sharma, is awfully amateurish and you wonder if it was scribbled together on the set. This definitely gets my prize for being the most unintentionally funny film of 2010. Which is why I'm going with one out of five for director Sanjay Sharma's "Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun". You might wonder why and how a film like this got made, but believe me, it's so comical, you get your money's worth just laughing at it. Indeed, its only merit lies in the fact that it's so bad it doesn't bore you, even for a single minute. Watch it…go on, I dare you!

Homosexuality is still taboo in India and DUNNO Y... NA JAANE KYUN attempts to tell a story that's shades different from FIRE and GIRLFRIEND or even BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN. Engaging at times, but amateurish at places, the film has the courage to go where most Hindi films have not dared to enter. The writing [script: Kapil Sharma] holds your interest in most parts. Director Sanjay Sharma has handled a few sensitive sequences well, but the writing, which should've focused on the main plot, drifts into plots of the numerous family members. On the whole, DUNNO Y... NA JAANE KYUN is an honest attempt. Sure, it's not a perfect film, but at least it makes a sincere attempt to highlight the issue.

Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyon is a film that defies description. Nothing I say can fully convey to you the experience of actually watching it. The script, performances, dialogue and direction are so staggeringly inept that Dunno Y is an instant classic and the latest entrant to my list of so-bad-they-are-good films.Where do I begin? Firstly there is the inexplicable title, which when you see the film, makes even less sense. The material is so lame that even the usually feisty Helen can't give it a lift. Dunno Y is a DVD must-watch. Honestly, this level of incompetence is hard to match.

The film deals with the happenings in the D’Souza household in the first half but it changes track at interval point so that the gay angle of the story takes precedence over all else in the second half. The film tries to justify homosexuality, which will not be palatable to the majority of the audience. Not just that, even the scenes of love-making between males will repulse the orthodox audience no end.Sanjay Sharma’s direction is hardly better than the script. The film seems to have been written and made for the festival circuit audience only.On the whole, Dunno Y Na Jaane Kyun.. will fail at the box-office.
