Dulha Mil Gaya starring Fardeen Khan and Sushmita Sen, has been four years in the making, but has arrived almost fifteen years too late. A predictable old-fashioned entertainer that's a throwback to those homogenous family films of the mid-90s, Dulha Mil Gaya borrows so much from the Yash Chopra/Karan Johar school of synthetic filmmaking that it's hard to tell if there's anything original to this story at all.Co-written by debutant director Mudassar Aziz, the screenplay of Dulha Mil Gaya skittles from cliché to cliché, packing in every stereotype you can think of - from a gay butler named Lotus, to a karva chauth ceremony that ends with Shah Rukh making an entry accompanied by swelling background score.I'm going with two out of five for director Mudassar Aziz's Dulha Mil Gaya; if it's not entirely unwatchable, you have Sushmita Sen to thank!Visit Site or More

Merely assembling A-listers and filming the movie at panoramic locations isn't enough. The film ought to have meat and that's missing here.Let me elaborate. Debutante director Mudassar Aziz, who has also penned the script, borrows from the past, going for the tried-and-tested stuff, but the narrative, already low on fuel, comes to a grinding halt by the time it reaches its finale. To give the credit where it's due, DULHA MIL GAYA has some interesting moments, but the problem is they are few and far between. One expects things to perk up when SRK's character is introduced [in the post-interval portions], but your hopes go crashing as nothing worthy of note occurs. The problem with Dulha Mil Gaya lies in the fact that it has nothing new to offer. And that's ironical at a time when almost every film that falls off Bollywood's conveyor belt is brimming over with newness: new ideas, new plots, new musical notes, new actors, new narrative styles. Unforgivable. Dulha Mil Gaya works in bits and pieces only and fills you with a sense of wasted opportunity, despite the overt shimmer. Shah Rukh and Sushmita fail to recreate the magic of Main Hoon Naa, even as the Fardeen-Ishita romance leaves you kinda cold.Visit Site or More

The film opens in Trinidad with a spoilt brat son, who hopes to inherit millions from his deceased father's estate. But Tej Dhanraj, also known as Donsai (Fardeen Khan), is in for a rude shock. He has just a few days time to marry Samarpreet Kapoor (Ishitta Sharrma), a girl from rural Punjab.This is a theme which was hugely popular in romance novels and movies in the 1960s and 1970s. The director could have kept us engrossed by taking the story to a new level. But Mudassar Aziz sticks to the tried-and-tested. Samarpreet remains the 'sati savitri' type, who will go to any lengths to woo her husband. Watch the film if you can't think of any other way to spend your weekend. Dulha Mil Gaya literally breaks new grounds with taking a Bollywood plot to Trinidad and Tobago. But beyond that this marriage miscarriage movie moves east of West Indies to introduce India for the zillionth time as nothing more than a small village in pastureland Punjab.New director Mudassar Aziz comes from the old school of filmmaking who puts no lateral thinking in his conventional-to-the-core writing and direction. And though he doesn’t resort to toilet humour, Mudassar (literally) employs latrine thinking in scripting a couple of scenes where cupid strikes when the couple is heading towards lavatory. The characterizations are as much clichéd as their conflicts. “Say yes to a relationship’ reads the tagline of the film. Lotus, Jasmine, Jigar, Bozo, Bonsai and Shimmer. These are no names of racehorses. These are names of characters in the film DULHA MIL GAYA. With names like these, you can imagine what the film slotted as romance/comedy will be like. It is sad that we end last year with a bang with 3 IDIOTS and then have to begin with something as idiotic as this. I mean, it is not even a movie. The only time it feels like one is when Shah Rukh Khan makes his guest appearance. Rest of the time you have to grin and bear it.Visit Site for More

Dulha Mil Gaya is a film caught in a time warp both literally and figuratively. The much-delayed movie is a bargain-basement version of Yash Chopra-Karan Johar movies from the late 1990s.So we have misguided, materialistic NRIs who are reformed by a virtuous, homely Indian girl; exotic foreign locations; a trip back to Punjab where dancing sardars are bouncing to shava shava; the inevitable karva chauth sequence and even Shah Rukh Khan.It's a familiar retread that offers little laughter or entertainment.Visit Site for More
