If the sight of two snakes entwined, supposedly making love, doesn’t cause your stomach to churn, then the sight of Mallika Sherawat writhing on the floor with a snake between her legs most definitely will.Hisss has a distinct B-movie feel to it, and the special effects scenes of Mallika turning into a snake are more comical than jaw-dropping. The film is haphazardly edited, and appears to be assembled out of incomplete footage.The film relies squarely on her ability to look sexy as she switches forms, and the actress shows much bare flesh in the process. Irrfan Khan looks positively uncomfortable in this ridiculous film, and the only time you smile is when the end credits appear.I’m going with one out of five for Hisss. At 90 minutes it’s mercifully short, but watch it only if you’re not easily disgusted.

Now she's a snake, pining for her lover or gorging herself on humans. Now she's a woman, shedding her clothes and sleepwalking through the city. That's all that Mallika Sherawat is supposed to do in a film that is neither a feminist tale nor a slice of mythology. So much so, the film backfires both ways: when it tries to portray Sherawat as a she-goddess, coming to the rescue of screaming women or as a serpent seeking vengeance against a hunter who has trapped her mate. A film like Hisss should have scored with its special effects. But once again, the carnage that the serpent unleashes is grotesque and her transformation from seductress woman to venomous reptile is more funny than eyeball-grabbing.

But, to put it bluntly, HISSS is a nightmare. The film has absolutely nothing to offer - no story, no screenplay, no songs, no performances... even the making is so tacky. Final word? If there were Razzies in Bollywood, HISSS would win hands down. Films like HISSS make you realize what's going wrong in Bollywood today. On one hand we celebrate the new stories being told in our movies and on the other, we churn out a HISSS, which is badly scripted, poorly enacted and carelessly directed. Believe me, it's easy to solve the crossword puzzle in newspapers than it is to understand what exactly is going on in this film. On the whole, HISSS is best avoided.

Before you venture into Hisss, ask yourself, are you ready to see Mallika Sherawat make love to a snake. It slithers in between her legs and there is even a bit of tongue action. The scene is grotesque and ridiculous, much like the rest of this film.Hisss has marginally better special effects and much more nudity but the script is so deliriously inept that, in comparison, the average Ramsay horror film looks like a class act. Hisss is strangely disjointed. It feels like an unfinished film. The credit says written and directed by Jennifer Lynch but I refuse to believe that this was directed by anyone. The true mystery here is what compelled Irrfan Khan to sign on?

Mallika dares and bares all as she plays the Iccha Dhaari Nagin (shape shifting snake) traversing through most of the film in her birthday suit!.The film is handled very tackily and looks extremely amateurish. Even the special effects are not of top quality and fail to impress.The support cast is weak and lack direction. Irrfan keeps one engrossed without much content at his disposal. His chemistry with Divya Dutta is convincing.Mallika remains the only visual element in the film.The film is a huge disappointment as it fails to bring alive an awesome legend.
