The thing is, director Ken Ghosh needn't have tried so hard. Chance Pe Dance is an annoying, exhausting film that entirely fails to entertain. Chance Pe Dance doesn't work because you feel no empathy for its protagonist. The film's writers -- if you can call them that, considering there is no script to speak of -- fail to invest even a hint of vulnerability in Sameer.I'm going with one out of five and a thumbs down for director Ken Ghosh's Chance Pe Dance; he borrows liberally from such Hollywood films. But with it's theme of a struggling actor's ultimate vindication, in the end I suppose Chance Pe Dance could be described as "Luck By Chance-For-Dummies". What bogs the film down is that it's too predictable from start to end. However, predictability is not the sole hitch here. The story doesn't have the zing to keep you hooked to the screen for most parts and also, it unravels at such a lethargic pace that you break into a yawn at several points of the narrative. The sole aspect that you carry home is Shahid Kapoor's earnest performance, who has consistently taken one step ahead with every film. This time, unfortunately, the shoddy script makes the actor's efforts null and void. Final verdict? A chance lost! Come to think of it, most dance-based reality shows on television these days promise far more entertainment, excitement, drame-baazi and those euphoric moments than the one you see in CHANCE PE DANCE.Visit Site or More

Ken Ghosh's film slips. For, it offers you nothing new in terms of the script which ends up as the weakest link in this entire show. Sadly, it follow all the predictable twists and turns that comprise the star-is-born story. Yet, what makes this film watchable is the passion that Shahid Kapoor injects in his delineation of Sam, the struggler with stars in his eyes. The film may not have the emotional quotient of Ishq Vishq, Shahid and Ken's first film that set the box office on fire, yet it does have its moments. A better scripted, less cliched second half would have surely given the film a better chance to dazzle and shake.Visit Site or More

A nothing movie with flashes of heart, Chance Pe Dance is a slow, indulgent watch -- meant strictly for the Shahid Kapoor fan.This is the story of a Bollywood struggler, and it initially feels refreshing to see the leading man be this clueless and this complete a loser. Yet success, which originally evades him -- making him sob -- eventually falls into his lap, and there's no great conflict for this boy who seems wonderfully comfortable living in his car night after night. Clearly, the Mumbai Police loved Kaminey and are letting him be.There are a few warm touches and Kapoor occasionally manages to sparkle. But there are far better places for a showreel than in a movie theatre.It's mostly harmless, and certainly harebrained. Leave it to the Shahid-obsessed.Visit Site or More

Ken Ghosh’s dance-drama takes no chance in experimenting with storytelling style and ends up being an extended version of the music videos that he used to direct before making feature films. The screenplay by Ken Ghosh and Nupur Asthana is conventional to the core, has predictable plot-points and lacks any dramatic graph. Kiran Kotrial’s dialogues lack depth and additional writing help by Manu Rishi doesn’t add any value to the narrative. Ken Ghosh’s direction lacks as much conviction as his writing and it’s easy to comprehend how he hurries and fabricates the storytelling in the second half. Sadly, scripts are written for reality shows today but there is no real good scripting involved in feature films. So in times when dance talent-hunt shows on television promise more drama and entertainment, you find no good reason why to give this dance a chance.Visit Site or More

In fact, director Ken Ghosh and his writers don’t seem to have worked on making the film even a little bit engrossing.Director Ghosh seems to have put all his efforts on song picturisations and little else. But with a story and script as bland, you can’t really expect him to make any sort of mark.Chance Pe Dance is the kind of film where you know the end and can’t wait to get there, even if it takes its own sweet time to do so.Watch it only if you’re a die-hard Shahid fan and if three good songs and four good scenes satisfy you as an audience.Visit Site or More

Chance Pe Dance tries to combine a dance movie with a Bollywood-cinderella story and comes up empty-handed.This is a dance film without one memorable dance track. But the biggest let-down is the script. It meanders and stumbles along bewilderingly.In fact, it seems like both Genelia and Shahid are squeezing in as many expressions as they can into each scene to compensate for the lack of a coherent script. Ken Ghosh directed CPD is a cliché ridden film that's predictable from the word go. With cheesy lines aplenty, zero emotional connect with any of its characters and multiple cinematic liberties taken, the film leaves you cold.Okay, for a film based on music, one expected that area to be topnotch. But it's a big disappointment, with Adnan Sami and Pritam Chakraborty's tunes lacking any punch.However, Shahid's dance sequences have been superbly choreographed by Ahmed Khan and Marty Kudelka, making him a treat to watch. He also impresses in a few emotional sequences.Beginning with a very imaginatively shot opening sequence, Chance Pe Dance doesn't live up to one's expectations and ends up being a complete bore! Avoid, unless you are a huge fan of Shahid Kapoor's dancing prowess.Visit Site or More
