Tucked away beneath those pointless songs and some ridiculous, overblown action scenes is a silly yet surprisingly enjoyable tale of misunderstandings and mistaken identities. Like most Bollywood comedies these days, All The Best is far too long, but it has a winning combination of cleverly crude humour and genuine sweetness. Shorter in length – its songs sacrificed, its action scenes trimmed – All The Best might have been a great Diwali treat. As it currently stands, it's a delicious one-time watch. I'm going with three out of five for director Rohit Shetty's All The Best; it's your best bet at the movies this weekend

ALL THE BEST makes no claims of catering to the intelligentsia or the elite. Instead, it's aimed at those who want to spend two hours of their precious life flexing their facial muscles. ALL THE BEST is for those who expect fun and laughter unlimited in those two hours. This one makes you smile, laugh, even break into a guffaw at times. The jokes and the goings-on may appear silly, but who cares! As long as one feels positive and wears a smile on the face even after the show has ended, nothing else matters. On the whole, ALL THE BEST is fun and laughter unlimited.

All the Best doesn't even come close to any of the sparkling gems of milestone laugh riots. In fact, it begins so sluggishly you are almost ready to write it off. Understandably, the current comedy trend doesn't aspire to make any demands on your grey cells and we do not have a problem with that. But the first few reels of All the Best are hell bent on unleashing a complete dumbing down of plot, character, comedy. So much so, even the flowers that proliferate the screen -- the gardens, the bushes, the creepers, the ponds -- are artificial. But if you are patient enough to give the screwballs a bit of time, the goofiness does begin to crackle and the comedy does pick up, post the entry of Sanjay Dutt. All the Best offers some rib-tickling moments, but mostly in the second half as the loose plot gradually gives way to complete mayhem and the characters begin to have fun on screen, specially Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgun.

Though some situations in the movie look forced, but cinema is known for taking such liberties. How else do you think Manmohan Desai would have survived. The best thing about Shetty comedies, are they don't seem repetetive, and every time offers something fresh. Despite using the same comic formula (of punchy dialogues and multiple characters), till now Rohit Shetty has prevented himself from being typecast.Overall, if your doctor has advised you laughter therapy, then go watch All the Best. Ingredients of the medicine? Hilarious moments, rib-tickling dialogues, crisp editing, mind boggling situations, minus double meaning dialogues this time.

In comparison, All The Best is not entirely shabby. Inspired by the play Right Bed, Wrong Husband, it's a star-studded affair, which is (fortunately) low on innuendoes and high on excessive gimmickry and formulaic filmmaking. What makes this contrived farce work sporadically is not its fancy cast but the presence of veteran comedian, Johnny Lever. As the inspired caricature of Karz's Sir Judah, Lever, on the strength of his eyeballs alone, guarantees a good laugh.

the humour works since the treatment is not fully farcical but also has a plot primarily focused on mistaken identities. The screenplay by Robin Bhatt and Yunus Sejawal does resort to intermediate slapstick but the comic timing of characters and the spontaneity in their animated acts keeps the spark live. The gags range from some silly and stretched ones to some fresh and funny lines. The title track is groovy but beyond that Pritam’s music doesn’t stay with you.

Best friends, Ajay Devgn and Fardeen Khan exchange their girlfriends in order to seek approval from Fardeen's millionaire brother, Sanjay Dutt. How and why this happens is best watched on screen. Where All The Best succeeds, is in its ability to stick to the core plot. The confusion never goes out of control and the narrative seldom meanders.
