Visit Site for MoreSorely lacking in drama and genuine humour, Action Replayy is mind-numbingly dull because there’s no conflict or plot progression, and everything seems to fall into place too conveniently. The dialogues are clunky, the music unimpressive, and the performances indifferent - except for Aishwarya Rai who gets a chance to show off her mean side for a change. The one smart joke in the film is a character who sings in both male and female voices, but that’s not enough to save this sinking ship of a film.I’m going with one-and-a-half out of five for director Vipul Shah’s Action Replayy. The only use for a time machine after watching this film, will be to wipe your memory clear of it.

On the whole, ACTION REPLAYY is a light-hearted rom-com that should be viewed without really seeking much rationale or logic behind every action and reaction. If you go with that in mind, chances are you might like the experience. A slightly dreary first hour, but a racy second hour with top notch performances makes it a decent watch this Diwali. Of course, ACTION REPLAYY is no perfect film, for it has its share of blemishes, which actually curtails its growth to an extent. What really salvages the otherwise flawed script is the pace and the length of the film and of course, the performances of its principal cast.Visit Site for More

The problem with Action Replayy is the going-nowhere humour track. The gags aren't too funny and the tu-tu main-main between Akshay and Aishwarya borders on the juvenile. The film perks up only when son Bunty manages to do a make-over of his dopey dad and Akshay emerges in his more dapper avatar as the archetypal hero who has just one job at hand.Action Replayy needed a much smarter script to keep the laughter ringing. Akshay Kumar desperately needs to get back to his action replay if he really wants to re-energise his franchise. The goofy common man act isn't working anymore, simply because of an overkill.Visit Site for More

Everything -- repeat, everything -- falls conveniently into place for Bunty, who apparently wins each lover over by just showing up. There is no drama, no conflict, no ingenuity and, really, no point. And all of this would have been immediately forgiven had the film been a bucketful of laughs. But there isn't a guffaw in the house, with the exception of the rare grins Kumar invariably forces out of you in the second half. The writing is pedestrian. Shah sets up gags -- the scientist is called Anthony Gonzalves; there is a singing contest that could have invoked the Padosan lipsync -- but there is never a pay-off.Even in a ripoff of a true classic, one expects it to reach 88 miles an hour and bring about at least a moment of genuine, even if fleeting and plagiarised, thrill. Action Replayy never moves out of second-gear.Visit Site for More

The film, based on a Gujarati play of the same name, has a very unusual plot. The screenplay, penned by Suresh Nair and Aatish Kapadia, has comic sequences which evoke laughter, especially in the first few and last few reels. But, the earlier portion of the bygone era, when Kishan is a sissy character, is quite boring and also dull. Further, Kishan’s look is so bad and repulsive that it is irritating to watch him.Akshay Kumar does a splendid job. He is so fantastic in the comic scenes that it is a delight to watch him. On the whole, Action Replayy has entertainment for the families and masses. However, its middle portion is quite boring. In other words, the functioning of the time machine ought to have been explained in greater detail and in a more simplistic fashion.Visit Site for More

Vipul Shah's Action Replay is apparently based on a Gujarati film of the same name. I don't know if that Gujarati play had anything to do with Back To The Future. This movie certainly does. The only difference is that for a musical, this movie has an incredibly third rate soundtrack. And the plot itself works only when Akshay Kumar is around.Visit Site for More

If you're expecting a fun ride with loads of gags coupled with romance and drama, you are in for a disappointment. There are just a few smile-inducing moments in this otherwise lackadaisical film. The retro look and feel manages to entice. But the narrative gets so overtly hackneyed, that you are waiting for Bunty to come back to the present time. Its predictable story is treated frivolously by Vipul Shah, especially the dragging second half. This time-travel is a wearing journey. Truly, Zor ka jhatka hai zoron se laga.Visit Site for More

What could have been a passable comedy, given the combined talents of Akshay-Om-Kirron-Rajpal in that department, never really gets a start. The lack of smartness in the writing shows up the absence of a plot : each actor has maybe one good line. The only one who gets sketched in a little is a funny fellow called Kundan ( Rannvijay) who sings in two voices. Nice idea, but like the film, doesn’t get too far.Visit Site for More
