There is no easy way to say this. Ashutosh Gowariker's What's Your Raashee? is an excruciatingly painful film to watch. For the most part humorless and misguided, the film lumbers along for an unforgivable three-hours-and-thirty minutes, during which even the most patient viewers might contemplate suicide. The encounters between Yogesh and each of the girls get repetitive soon enough, and the screenplay slips into something of a cyclic mess, with each meeting-scene between boy and girl predictably followed by a song.If you survive the film's plodding pace and make it to the final act, you're expecting to be gratified by a smart ending. After all, which girl does Yogesh Patel eventually choose? Prepare to be disappointed by a cop-out climax that clearly indicates the writers had no idea how to clean up this mess they made.

To cut a long story short, WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? is a king-sized disappointment from one of the finest storytellers of India. Ashutosh Gowariker gets it wrong this time thanks to the poor screenplay. The writing is the biggest culprit here. Sohail Sen's music is easy on the ears, but why so many songs? A few songs can easily be deleted.the concept of WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? is interesting, but the big screen adaptation isn't. To start with, you connect with barely a few stories, mainly the one who has a past and also the final one, of an underage girl. But several stories appear ridiculous and hence, ruin the impact generated by several wonderful moments.

There are dollops of humour in the writing and Hurman’s perfect timing complements the antics of Priyanka’s characters. But at many instances, the gag is simply stretched or falls flat.Another setback is that with as many as 12 Priyanka Chopra, one intermittently gets puzzled in identifying one from the other. Twelve characters are too much for an instant recall. After a point, the boy-girl encounters gets repetitive with cyclic sessions of ‘ What do you do? What are you hobbies? ’ interrogation. The pacing is slow and for a simplistic romantic comedy, What’s Your Raashee is tediously long at a 3 hour 30 minute runtime. And despite that the narrative lacks conviction

It's really a long, long list of women. And it has resulted in a long, long movie. The movie's first hour is also its most entertaining. Not that the movie degenerates thereafter, it merely gets repetitive and wears you down.If the movie still works to an extent, it is because Gowariker maintains fluidity in the narrative and gets uniform good work from his support cast.Size matters. A less-than-ruthless editor could have easily trimmed What's Your Raashee by 45 minutes without compromising on its soul. Gowariker seems to have fallen in love with his own work. Too bad, his indulgence prevents the audience from doing the same.

What's Your Raashee? is ultimately a performance-oriented film. A terrific ensemble cast from the world of television and theatre collaborate to its feel-good believability which lasts as long as their screen time. As for the man behind Yogesh, Harman Baweja is sincere in his endeavours but not so fascinating a presence to resist getting overshadowed by his leading lady. And boy, what a lady! Priyanka Chopra transforms into 12 new skins with astonishing distinction, voice and spirit. The actress reinvents herself into this unique individual every single time ranging from batty, bashful and boisterous. This is simply her show. If only it weren't three and a half hours long.

Only characters and interactions carry this story. When that becomes shaky, the pace, burdened with too many songs and some feeble comedy, goes into slow motion. And you are so exhausted that you can barely keep track of the girls or their sagas or why Yogesh does or doesn’t like them. Moreover, this entire exercise swirls around Harman who seems sincere enough but simply doesn’t have the screen presence or the acting chops to pull it off.

At times one may feel that Gowariker is better off doing period films that require a big scale production. Everyday films are just not his cup of tea. The problem? He makes it too normal. Too 'everyday'. There's a tale. But there's no twist to it. There's a heart. But it doesn't have erratic BP. Rashee is too simple… almost mundane like everyday life. It's too long. Too inane. And at times, very boring. Buy the DVD, in parts if possible but there's no way you can sit through it in the theatre.

The premise is silly, the plot frivolous and the execution lacks direction. It appears as though Gowariker has let go of the reins and is not aware of what is happening. The movie breaks the three-hour barrier. Each Sun Sign lasts for over 12 minutes and is most often punctuated with a song. The music is a huge draw but is overused, the start is terrific; giving one a Broadway feel but then comes the downer... It's easy to predict the fate of this flick at the Box Office!
