It is my humble suggestion that the makers of this film, Tum Mile go straight home and watch Sholay themselves. Some lessons in screenplay writing and basic shot-taking wouldn't hurt.The problem is there's not enough drama in the screenplay to begin with.The film's special effects are unimpressive, and the photography is uniformly flat. Tum Mile has a hummable score, but it doesn't succeed on most other counts. I'm going with one-and-a-half out of five for director Kunal Deshmukh's Tum Mile; you may survive the floods, but Emraan and Soha's bak-bak will most certainly kill you!

While KD succeeds in depicting the tiffs between the lovers, it's the disaster aspect that doesn't make much of an impact. That's because you strongly feel that the infamous Mumbai floods should've been given more prominence, instead of using it as a tool to take the story forward. KD has handled the love story very well. The tiffs between Emraan and Soha are so identifiable. The 'Dil Ibaadat' song in particular completely moves you. But how one wishes the film would've focussed more on the characters' attempts to escape or cope with the disaster or its aftermath.

Director Kunal Deshmukh returns after the success of Jannat. This time round, he sculpts an extremely mature and engrossing account of a mercurial relationship between an artist (Emraan Hashmi) and his muse (Soha Ali Khan). Now that's a love story that's been told before. But what makes Tum Mile alluring are the performances and the narrative structure: both innovative, multi-layered and show casing depth. But what really stands out in the film is the acting. Emraan and Soha create a chemistry that is brimming over with warmth and remains quite unpredictable till the very end. Go, get a taste of substantial Bollywood with Tum Mile: a story well told.

What's amazing is how their story and affection unfolds. The viewer feels the stifling iciness between the two in the first scene. Initially, she's a bit condescending while he's mostly awkward, which is easily believable for not all couples part as friends.Then as the story rewinds, we are familiarised to how they met, dated, began living-in, got intimate only to experience the not so pleasant side of a man-woman relationship.Despite the rich-poor stereotype, Deshmukh handles the frustrations and conflicts between two strong-willed, independent individuals with astounding realism.Ultimately, though, Tum Mile's true strength lies in the combined appeal and compelling performances of Emraan and Soha. Awe-inspiring it is not but engaging? By all means.

The basic problem with Tum Mile lies with its much-too-long flashback. Now this was never meant to be a disaster adventure film. But the romantic angle in the flashback is filled with the most done-to-death sequences.While the disaster angle is clearly a gimmick. And the lovers could very well have sorted out their differences on a station or an airport lounge, the film is engagingly shot. Tum Mile is eventually just another love story punctuated with some 26/7 sequences. Watch it only if you are a die hard Emraan Hashmi fan.

Tum Mile, ostensibly Bollywood's first disaster movie is superbly silly.Firstly, there simply isn't enough disaster here. There are a few ominous warnings of turbulence in the skies and some rainfall, but calamity doesn't hit until we are at the interval.This narrative isn't very engaging to begin with and it isn't helped by the singularly sullen performances by Soha and Emran. Both have proved themselves to be effective actors but as a romantic couple, they posses little charm. So you are counting the minutes till the water arrives.But director Kunal Deshmukh, who debuted with the crackling match-fixing film Jannat, isn't able to summon the horror and tragedy of that day.The special effects are tacky and the situations are ridiculous.

The story, like all Bhatt films is heavy on romance and the uneasy pain of loving and leaving. Given the backdrop of the deluge, director Kunal Deshmukh makes a valiant attempt of recreating the last moments of TITANIC. The scenes showing the floods are close to real and take you back in time when the streets became one big sea and the message at the end is "Stay indoors when it rains." Though the film does manage to tug at your heart the length is a big bother, a little snip here and a big cut there would have done wonders for this film. The lead pair of Emraan and Soha is fantastic.
