Unlike the earlier film, which had some plot to speak of, Rakht Charitra 2 is an unabashed orgy of gory action. Some scenes, however, are thrillingly filmed, like that sequence in a courthouse where a hired killer, dressed as an old woman, attacks Surya. But for the most part this film seriously lacks any real sense of drama, and to make up for that, director Ramgopal Varma once again relies on those crazy camera angles and his trademark booming background score.
I’m going with two out of five for Rakht Charitra 2. More blood and more killings leave you numb in your seat.

But eventually, the film is essentially about revenge -- a dish best served bloody -- and the cycle of violence which leaves nobody spotless and clean. Ram Gopal Varma makes no bones about depicting Indian politics in its ugly, brutish form, where there is a complete disregard for law and constitutional propriety. Both Vivek Oberoi and Suriya pitch in a powerful act as the eyes-blood-shot brigands, while Sudeep and Shatrughan Sinha flit in and out, mostly as bystanders. The film essentially belongs to the action director (Javed-Aejaz), since it is basically a montage of finely-crafted, high-on-adrenalin action sequences. Rakht Charitra doesn't break new ground like Satya and Company, nevertheless it remains a must-see film for Ramu fans

Brutality has a new name and it's called RAKHT CHARITRA. The first part was gruesome. The second part, well, is not as violent, but is a bloodbath nonetheless.On the whole, RAKHT CHARITRA 2 highlights the emotion called vengeance most convincingly. It is chilling, raw, revolting, crass and ghastly, the kind that is meant to repulse you. But let's face it: It's a true depiction of human emotions. It's a film which is easy to devour if you can absorb brutality. It is for those who don't wince easy. But I'd say, watch it for its audacity and valor. Watch it to experience the work of a rebellious film-maker who never takes a break from telling an innovative story in film after film. Final word? Much more engrossing and gripping than RAKHT CHARITRA 1.

Rakta Charitra 1 had an urgency that kept the narrative moving despite the clumsy voice-over and mind-numbing violence. The sequel has some powerful scenes but lacks cohesion. In places, the scenes seem stitched together quite randomly. Oberoi, who was so much more effective in the first, mostly flares his nostrils and looks grim. But Suriya saves the film from being a total loss. His expressive eyes have a quiet strength and his presence sears the screen. Will someone please find him a better Bollywood script?

Both films are similar -- the only difference is that they have been narrated from two points of view. The first film shows the rise of Paritala Ravi and the second shows the rise of Surya. With so much similarity and such an outdated plot, there's not much RGV can do to salvage the show.RGV's direction is effective but the script lets him down. It lacks the narrative style required, and fails to hold the audience. Post-interval, the film loses pace and just drags to the end. The action of the film is as raw as it can get. Action directors Javed-Eijaz have continued where they left off in Rakht Charitra 1. One might feel that there is an overdose of violence but the script asks for it.
