Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai is a throwback to those old-school films that mishmashes all the Bollywood staples - thoda romance, thoda comedy, and some tears before the two leads walk away happily into the sunset.The comic bits work in parts;The problem with Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai is that this stray fratboy humour is the most enjoyable part of this stale story.There's so much mushy dialogue that even the guys who write those Hallmark cards would feel uncontrollably sick; and just the basic plotting of the romantic track is too corny and juvenile to inspire any real sympathy for the characters involved.I'm going with two out of five for debutant director Milap Zaveri's Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. It's got moments that will make you smile, but it's hardly out of this world.

JAANE KAHAN SE AAYI HAI works for its light moments mainly. It's bizarre to think of a love story between a human and an alien, but Milap garnishes it well with assorted characters, sets the story in the film industry and has several laugh-inducing moments. Resultantly, the first half is paisa vasool in filmi lingo.But the problem arises when the focus shifts to the prem kahani in its second half. For, the story follows the trodden path [it becomes a love triangle] and embarks on the same old route that all love stories usually embark upon. If Milap had the courage to think out of the box, he should've ensured that the film remained true to its essence. Why didn't he think of an equally wacky second hour? Notwithstanding its predictable second half, JAANE KAHAN SE AAYI HAI is a decent watch that provides ample laughs.

It's light, breezy, buoyant and actually funny, now and then. More importantly, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai makes up where Aladin flopped: it showcases some cosy chemistry between Gujju goner, Riteish Deshmukh and alien beauty, Jacqueline Fernandes who serenade each other with smiles, giggles, snuggles and a lot of silly banter. And if that's not enough, there's the boyz bandobast too: the funky friendship between loser number one, Riteish and loser number two, Vishal (he's on fire), the friend with the yen for the pink pussycat! .The film may not boast of a great story, a scintillating script, but it has enough to keep you smiling.Take a light-hearted break with this one.

There are a few things debutant director Milap Zaveri gets perfectly right in Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai. The film is about Rajesh Parekh, a class-A loser, played by Ritesh Deshmukh, who is an assistant director on the next Farah Khan project. Up till this point, Jaane Kaha Se Aayi Hai is fun in an obvious, low-IQ sort of way. But with the arrival of the alien Tara, played by Jacqueline Fernandez, who has descended from Venus to learn about love, the rom-com derails. Fernandez, whose gleaming white teeth and incessant smile, suggest a dental-ad model rather than an actor, works like a pin-prick on a balloon.. This human-alien love story could have been a fun popcorn film but Milap doesn’t mine its potential. Jaane Kaha Se Aayi Hai is resolutely pedestrian.

What's funny though how our contrived story-telling doesn't even spare an extraterrestrial? At the end of the day, the hero's idea of a perfect date has to be trips to places of worship and the skimpily-clad Venusian will somehow find a way to fit into the Bhartiya naari prototype. And so from skimpy silver boy shorts to shiny silk kanjeevarams it is.The only way you can mildly amuse yourself with this sham is a) Do not ask questions. b) Do not think. c) Ignore the stereotypes (a loud Gujju middle-aged couple, gay jokes).The only reason you're able to keep pace with the irregularities in the script's momentum is because of its young, efficient cast.The actors give their spontaneous best even while conveying sentimentality that is flowery enough to put a greeting card to shame

Riteish, Vishal and Jacqueline all three render impressive performances and are the saving grace of the film. Where Riteish and Vishal have perfect comic timing, Jacqueline looks every bit a woman from Venus. What disappoints is the sloppy script. The idea between alien-human love is interesting but the story doesn’t materialize as we would expect. The dialogues are corny, characters clichéd and the genre confused. There are ample of heavy romantic cheesy lines but no interesting romance. The actors have good comic timing but there are no great humorous punches in the script itself for them to enact. The film had the potential to be better but disappoints.

Good idea, which needed zany treatment. But the debutant director who’s written such movies as `Jhankaar Beats’ and `Masti’, can’t quite make up his mind whether he wants to do a risqué comedy or a soulful love story. He tries for both and achieves neither. And then of course there’s the main track between Deshmukh and Fernandes : she’s dropped off on earth, via a big spaceship, because she wants to know about, what do you know, Love But I’m hard put to recall a duller segment : practically everything about the film, including this pair which we last saw in `Aladin’, feels like we’ve seen it a hundred times over.
