Sure, CYCLE KICK is no IQBAL, but it's a decent effort nonetheless. There are rough edges, yes, but there are also some winning moments when your heart pines for the underdog. Especially the finale, when the warring factions battle it out in a match of football. If one overlooks the minor hiccups that show up at regular intervals, CYCLE KICK comes across as a decent attempt. On the whole, CYCLE KICK is a decent attempt, but the predicament is that it arrives with as good as zilch awareness.

In the clamorous clutter of releases this week, Cycle Kick stands out for being the least fashionable/trendy and the most original. Yes, it has its flaws - it is excessively syrupy in places and often amateurish in parts. But the sum-total of the components adds up to a heartwarming take on coming-of-age in the back of the beyond.Cycle Kick is not quite the kick-in-the-groin take on the non-urban youth's aspirations that Iqbal so successfully happened to be. But it has its heart in the right place. And it doesn't puts its foot in its mouth.

What’s Good: The cinematography. What’s Bad: The scattered and fragmented story; average performances.Verdict: Cycle Kick does not entertain. It will do dismal business at the box-office.The story, penned by Shashi Sudigala, is scattered and fragmented. It lacks focus. Shashi’s screenplay attempts to do too much and ends up doing too little, that too, with hardly any finesse or competence. Dialogues are very ordinary.Watch or Not?: Watch only if you like amateur cinema
