Visit Site for MoreThere are so many things wrong with director Priyadarshan's adaptation of Iranian gem Children of Heaven, you can't decide where to start.The film's awkward title -- Bumm Bumm Bole -- has no relevance to the story whatsoever, but appears to be a reference to a song in Taare Zameen Par whose young star Darsheel Safary is the lead in this film too.Bumm Bumm Bole fails entirely because it's hard to connect with the kids and their pain. There is an endearing charm to little Ziyah Vastani who plays the chatterbox sister, but it's wasted in a film that has little integrity.I recommend you stay home and watch the original film on DVD instead. Children of Heavenis a heartbreaking drama that'll leave you with a lump in your throat and tears in your eyes.This one, meanwhile, deserves to be skipped. I'm going with one-and-a-half out of five for director Priyadarshan's Bumm Bumm Bole. Not worth your time.

For those who've watched the Iranian film, you'll realize that BUMM BUMM BOLE is not a patch on that film. And those who haven't watched the Iranian film and would view BUMM BUMM BOLE as an isolated case, BUMM BUMM BOLE still disappoints. So what ails this film? There's no denying that Priyadarshan is one of the finest storytellers around, but if you've watched some of his recent films, you may've realized that they have been stretched beyond a point. That's one of the prime reasons why BUMM BUMM BOLE suffers. On the whole, BUMM BUMM BOLE starts off well, but loses focus as it develops. Nothing to rave or rant about!Visit Site for More

Priyadarshan reveals his multi-faceted craft once again. Digressing from his usual dhamaal comedies. Bumm Bumm Bole is quite a watchable film, both for adults and kids, with an exquisite canvas where the tea gardens of Ooty double up as the ULFA-infested terrain of Assam. It creates a heartening picture of a destitute family that may be depleted of rations but does have an abundance of love.The film is on song as long as it follows the kiddie track. The children deliver their roles perfectly and do not end up as precocious young things as is the case with most Indian films with child protagonists. But the terror track does seem totally unwarranted and ends up as a jarring note in what could have been a idyllic portrait of familial bonding. Nonetheless, Bumm Bumm Bole is fine vacation fare for the family and presents a viable alternative to parents who are looking for meaningful tween entertainment in a boom-boom age.Visit Site for More

Right at the beginning! A couple of reels and you know the director wants you to weep copiously through the film. Unfortunately, such blatant manipulative efforts have the opposite effect. One feels distant and aloof instead of empathizing with the characters.The second half of the film could have been chopped considerably and the climax stretches endlessly. Surprisingly in the climax too, the shoes seem to be the focus of the film not Darsheel. Let's hope this doesn't set a new trend in Bollywood.The film is a must-watch for Darsheel fans but they must be prepared to suffer. And everybody else must keep away!Visit Site for More

The primary appeal of the film lies in the simplicity of its plot and the ability to bind you with minimalism. But amidst this when you have a fancy song merely enforced for barefaced in-film branding, it just doesn’t gel with the candour conduct of such cinema. The innocent chemistry of the siblings is brought out persuasively and the baby girl (Ziyah Vastani) wholly wins your heart with her cute charm. The screenplay is uncomplicated yet eventful with Pinaki’s endearing attempts to keep the secret of lost shoes from his parents and subsequently win a new pair for his sister. However it strays in between.Bumm Bumm Bole is nowhere close to the class of neorealistic masterpieces like Kanchivaram that Priyadarshan directs once in a decade. However its still notches above potboilers like Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Mere Baap Pehle Aap and Billu , the kind of stuff that Priyadarshan serves us through the decade. Bumm Bumm Bole is watchable but simply for its ‘shoe-string’ of an idea.Visit Site for More

Till the film stays with the children, it stays nice. Both Safary, who made a wonderful debut in `Taare Zameen Par’, and Vastani are allowed, mostly, to be their natural selves. Their interactions, when they are squabbling, which is what siblings do a lot of their waking hours, feel real. Priyan retains a lot of the original (entire scenes are faithfully lifted). But then he gets up to his old tricks of not knowing how to let a good thing be, and inflates the story with terrorists and insurgents and cops and shoot-outs, as well as a leering tea plantation manager who tries molesting the wife : this, in a children’s film?Plus, a good film does not, repeat after me, does not need item numbers.Visit Site for More
