Plagiarized from the 1992 Hollywood B-movie Single White Female, the plot of Mundhra's film focuses on a seemingly simple girl's creepy obsession with her airhostess flat-mate. This tacky slasher film stars Neetu Chandra as the roommate from hell who goes on a murderous spree when neighbors and friends come in the way of her friendship with Tanushree Dutta, whose flat she shares.There is barely any tension or nail-biting build-up in the moments leading up to those vicious attacks, and the acting -- by the two ladies in particular -- is so bad, it's hard to feel anything for either.I'm going with one-and-a-half out of five for director Jag Mundhra's Apartment. Look for something better, preferably in another zip-code!
Single White Female, anyone? Ok, so this one's another of those sundry lifts from Hollywood films, repackaged as desi kitsch. But what's there to complain about? Don't we see it happening so often? So let's just try to see if Apartment deserves a dekko or not. It does. Primarily because of Neetu Chandra. pay attention to her antics that transform this run-of-the-mill thriller into watchable fare. Quite a bravura act indeed, specially since she gets little help from a poker-faced Tanushree Dutta and a routine-act Rohit Roy. Even Anupam Kher spends most of his screen time with his pet cat.... End verdict? Apartment's a decent watch provided you promise not to watch Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh do the catfight in Single White Female.Visit Site for More

Apartment is a bargain basement remake of Barbet Schroeder’s 1992 thriller Single White Female. Director Jagmohan Mundhra isn’t looking for factual accuracy here. He only wants to create a somewhat titillating, suspense thriller. But he doesn’t even manage that because there is no suspense. The acting is abysmal. The production values are tacky. And the writing is laugh-out-loud funny. You want a thriller. Rent a DVD instead. Venture into this apartment at your own risk.Visit Site for More

Mundhra’s strength used to be that he made movies that reflected societal concerns. In his last outing, Aishwarya Rai was presented to the world as a battered wife (‘Provoked’); an earlier film had Nandita Das as a disadvantaged rural woman who fights for her rights (`Bawandar’). You couldn’t accuse him of sophistication, but he did know how to tell a tale. Now it looks as if it was all in the past Apart from the fact that it is stolen, `The Apartment’ suffers from bland acting, and superfluous songs: Neetu Chandra is the only one who takes advantage of Mundhra’s latest. She shows once again she can emote, which you can’t accuse her co-stars of, but this is the kind of film that you watch on and off. More off than on.Visit Site for More

The script stars a small-town dement, who makes strange faces and obsesses over an uptown girl. It reads more like a Z-grader called Girlfriend (2004): a homophobic movie that many thought was a lesbian subject. You wish the plot here came embellished from elsewhere instead, Hollywood perhaps. But then, no one will attempt such a flimsy subject for about two hours. Inspirations are hard to find, for an obvious reason. Accept soft-core pornography in Indian films, and you’ll get rid of poor apologies such as these that have to force in plots, since they can’t just make a semi-porn pic instead.
