It's a smart new concept, a snazzy coupling between Neil and Bipasha and a thriller's edge that keeps Aa Dekhen Zara cruising along. The plot does tend to lose its grip in-between, but gets back on the rails before a crackling climax. Neil, who had already grabbed eyeballs in his debut venture, Johnny Gaddar, once again displays an easy charm and an effortless grace before the camera. He's roguish, yet vulnerable, all at the same time. Now that's a heady cocktail, indeed! And Bipasha too proves she's lucky with the boys...Remember her fundoo act with young Ranbir Kapoor in Bachna Ae Haseenon?

In a nutshell, AA DEKHEN ZARA promises the moon, but what you eventually get in return is merely a mirage. On the whole, AA DEKHEN ZARA had the potential to be an exciting fare, but the post-interval portions prove a deterrent. The fantastic promotion coupled with the popular musical score will ensure ample footfalls in the opening weekend, but the film lacks the stamina to run steadily.

For a thriller, Aa Dekhen Zara is awfully snail-paced, and every moment in that dark-room waiting for photographs to develop feels like real time. Neil Nitin Mukesh is stiff for the most part and fails to leave much of an impression. Bipasha Basu, saddled with a thankless role, can't do much to help either.First-time director Jehangir Surti fails to inject that edge-of-the-seat excitement into this thriller, making it a long, tedious affair. I'm not sure what director Jehangir Surti was trying to achieve with this film utterly lacking in originality or intelligence, but let's assume he tried to make a fun children's movie. Yet this is fantasy by-the-numbers, the script coming together as if assembled by a couple of 14-year-olds who have sneaked a couple of espressos. All the elements you can think of are in place, but nothing connects. Judging by the fact that a couple of 10-year-olds behind me were gleefully predicting every scene ahead, either the film's soothsaying camera is more common than we know or -- and, admittedly more realistically -- the same can be said for the generic plot.

But there’s enough masala to spice up the soup. N2M takes over the movie as he sings, acts and dances; Bipasha Basu is hotter than ever and Rahul Dev adds a neat cameo as the baddie who wants to get his hands on that camera. Director Jehangir Choudhury takes his time telling his story and the pace flags here and there, but what the hell, make the most of the ride.

The script is so full of holes you can sieve tea through it. The performances are largely wooden (Rahul Dev, Sophie Chaudhary included). Basu is styled like she's 14 and mopes around a lot. Mukesh appears ill at ease. He could do with some dancing lessons and with learning that acting goes way beyond angling yourself for the camera.The filmmakers could have done with a future photo of March 27 to see the fate of their film. As it is, the future's not bright for Aa Dekhen Zara

What could have been a tight thriller ends up a hodgepodge as the plot goes completely haywire with characters like a provocatively underdressed RAW agent ( Sophie Choudhary ) and her corrupt senior who goes on shooting spree in Bangkok and bumps off a couple of cops on his trail to Ray and the camera. The run-up to the climax, full of chases and shootouts, doesn’t really kick the adrenaline, but is engrossing enough.

When previous week’s releases catered to specified groups: either multiplex or single screen audiences, ‘Aa Dekhen Zara’ savors to the best for all… Possibly, for those buffs of ‘Final Destination Series’, it may not exceed your expectations. But, pace dropping off in the latter part adds to the negative traits. But loaded with finest songs, it eclipses those diminishing factors.
