Bollywood, especially the Bhatts, have done the "love, lies and betrayal" thing several times before. But producer Vikram Bhatt knows how to rustle up a slick, smart yarn and the director, his ex-assistant, seems a good learner. Neatly crafted, with each character clearly etched, the film never loses its single-mindedness and pace.But the movie's biggest drawback is that its actors neither have box-office pull nor the charm to hold attention. We really don't care who wins or loses. Debutant Nausheen emotes well but occasionally seems to be impersonating a ghost. And the music, once a highlight of Bhatt movies, is disappointingly tepid. Three just falls short of being a three-star affair.

Unpredictability is the strength of THREE. Also, the culmination should come as a jolt - that's a must that any suspense thriller - and the twist in the climax meets the requirements, catching you by surprise. But THREE is not without its share of hiccups. The writing is not consistently engaging and also, the length could've been concise. Yet, all said and done, THREE is a notch above the ordinary. On the whole, THREE - LOVE, LIES, BETRAYAL is a well-made thriller, but it remains to be seen how it fares in the Ramzan period and also how it competes with simultaneous multiple releases.

It's like watching someone bake a classic chocolate cake. You know the ingredients. You know the recipe. You know the technique. Heck, you even know the taste. Only there's nothing classic or sweet about Vikram Bhatt's Three-Love, Lies and Betrayal, directed by his assistant, Vishal Pandya.Although for a thriller, Three looks terribly lackluster. It could work better with a lot more edgy angles and feisty camera play.What's good? That's a tough one. Let's see. Besides a crumb of Scotland darshan, the eclectic soundtrack by Chirantan Bhatt has its moments. Can't say the same about Three -- Love, Lies and Bakwas.

The pacing of the film might seem slow with just three characters central to the plot but the narrative comes to the point pretty soon. Vikram Bhatt’s script isn’t inventive or immaculate but refrains from being a pungent potboiler (like his earlier attempts) and has its moments in the latter half. There are inconsistencies in writing as the husband and wife fight over divorce in one scene and seem to have no issues in the subsequent. Or when Sanjay’s love abruptly switches from Anjini to her assets!.They say ‘Two’s company three’s a crowd’. Three – Love Lies Betrayal is crowded with too many derivations.
