Like Swades and Lage Raho Munnabhai which came before it, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year is a film about the importance of basic goodness. In an industry driven by opening weekends and bumper collections, it's that oddball film that seldom compromises on its intentions for the sake of becoming more box-office friendly. As a result the film feels too long, indulgent even, and ever-so-often it appears uncinematic..But don't be fooled by its appearance; Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year is a film with all heart.In the end, Rocket Singh is a clean, honest film with noble intentions. It requires patience to appreciate it fully, but deserves a viewing because films like this are hard to find. I'm going with three-and-a-half out of five and a thumbs up for director Shimit Amin's Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year; whatever else you do this weekend, don't miss this film.Visit Site for More

The winning duo of Shimit Amin and Jaideep Sahni may not be offering you a Chak De India this time round, but they do sculpt some rare moments on celluloid that end up redefining the pusuit of happiness as something more than mainu chaida, chaida, chaida! (I want, want, want!) His delineation of Harpreet Singh Bedi is completely the opposite of Prem: low key, restrained and recongnisable, with a slice-of-life realism. But he has a host of other brilliant actors supporting him in this unusual film which might have been India's answer to Wall Street, if it had kept it's editing tighter and more taut. But the high point of the film are the punchy dialogues and the handful of scenes which touch your heart with their had-enough-of-dishonesty, let's-be-good-now India, feel.Visit Site for More

Frankly, ROCKET SINGH - SALESMAN OF THE YEAR is more of a documentary on the life of a salesman. It's a decent film, no two opinions on that, but the question is, [a] Is the story powerful enough to excite you and [b] Does it grab your attention in entirety? Sadly, the answer to both the questions is in the negative. In a nutshell, ROCKET SINGH - SALESMAN OF THE YEAR is a dull and dry experience. On the whole, ROCKET SINGH - SALESMAN OF THE YEAR is more of a documentary on the life of a salesman. Lack of music, romance and entertainment, coupled with zilch hype, will go against the film. The best films about sales are compelling narratives about savage closers, like David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross or Oliver Stone's Wall Street, audiences lapping up the con-games used by piranhas in action, but the Rocket Singh story is the exact antithesis of the 'greed is good' dictum: this is about a straightforward, sincere lad who believes in sharing.And it works, because the film's innate honesty makes us want to believe. That, and the lack of razzle-dazzle. (Heck, the office party sees people drink whiskey in transparent plastic cups with music running on Windows Media Player.)Rocket Singh might not be everyone's idea of a good time. It's not a film that grips you from the word go, or one that leaves you rolling in the aisles, but it's an impassioned effort that tosses skepticism out the window. Rocket Singh is quite relatable in recent times. Half the day one gets uncalled-for calls from salesmen wanting to sell us products from the world. And in the other half almost every employee in any organization dreams of starting his own company like his workplace. Rocket Singh combines these common-man conflicts to come up with a compelling narrative.While any sales person or an average office executive can effortlessly identify with the setting of the film, director Shimit Amin doesn’t restrict the audience till them. He works more towards the human angle giving the film a universal appeal, while retaining its office authenticity. Rocket Singh Salesman Of The Year is a worthy successor to Munnabhai MBBS and Khosla Ka Ghosla. The characters are straight out-of-life, consisting of a bunch of normal people faced with an extraordinary situation. Rocket Singh Salesman Of The Year has a cheerfully identifiable middle class setting.Rocket Singh Salesman Of The Year is eventually a feel good watch that talks about ethics, without sounding like a moral science lecture. All that mundane management talk about 'service over sales' and 'people over numbers' never sounded cooler.The most well written and genuinely unique film of the year. Shimit Amin returns, this time with business as the field of play. Yet again, he delivers a product with finesse. ROCKET SINGH appeals, endears, and warms the cockles of one's heart..Shimit takes a neutral view of the business field and lays bare the employee-boss relationship as well as the 'percentage party' where the customer is the scapegoat. In the final analysis, as Harpreet tells his boss, it is not about driving your employees nuts to achieve sales target but by understanding them. Dunno if ticket sales for this film will rocket, but I strongly recommend ROCKET SINGHVisit Site for More

Yashraj Films turns over a desperately-needed leaf with ‘Rocket Singh’, a film with both art and heart. The not-so-regular story of a regular guy is seldom told right: here, scriptwriter Jaideep Sahni, director Shimit Amin and lead actor Ranbir Kapoor work in tandem to keep it real and grounded and engrossing. If ‘Rocket Singh’ hadn’t been overly long, helped along by a much too stretched-out confessional passage by the coming-to-his-senses bad boss, it would have been very good indeed. But this is one film you can overlook the length and focus on what it wants to say, and how it says it.Visit Site for More
