Helmed by first-timer Punit Malhotra, I HATE LUV STORYS is typical candyfloss romance with a story that's not jaw-droppingly different, let me forewarn you. But if you're young at heart or a diehard and hopeless romantic, you'd lap up I HATE LUV STORYS like a kid laps up his fav candy. If I HATE LUV STORYS rests on a thin plot, what is it that drives the film for the next two hours? My answer to that is, four factors: The fresh pairing and chemistry between the lead cast, tremendous youth appeal, terrific music and magical moments that make a love story work. On the whole, I HATE LUV STORYS is a young and vibrant love story with tremendous appeal for the yuppies. The fresh pairing and the on-screen electrifying chemistry, the lilting musical score and the magical moments in the film should attract its target audience - the youth - in hordes. Thematically, I Hate Luv Storys, is extremely simplistic, uni-layered and terribly predictable. Imran and Sonam do begin on the we-hate-each-other note, with Imran squirming at any and everything that's filmy while Sonam swears by it all: pink teddys, bunches of blooms, candle-light dinners, Karan Johar films, cuddly Cupid's bows, shooting stars, soppy dialogues and all that made-for-each-other mush. But we all know the way the wind blows, from the word go. Mush shall rule, and how! For all the digs that producer Karan Johar allows on himself (filmmaker Samir Soni is actually a spoof on KJo), we know the film's going to end up reiterating KJo -- and all he translates into onscreen -- as king. The core plot of I Hate LUV Storys is from the entire Aamir Khan-Preity Zinta romance track in Dil Chahta Hai . That I Hate LUV Storys admits taking (liberal) references from Dil Chahta Hai at its very start, doesn’t give this film a stamp of approval. More importantly because it is a supposed spoof on the clichés of mushy romance flicks but sadly ends up resorting to all those clichés in its narrative. Visit Site for MoreNow despite a monsoon downpour of cliches – which are duly acknowledged by the dialogue – debut-making Punit Malhotra’s I Hate Luv Storys oozes a fair amount of charm. For the viewer, exasperated by the ragbag of movies in recent months, here’s a designer bottle of balm. Truly, the isq-vishq business out here is all so innocent and feckless that you actually feel quite cool and calm.Glitch: there’s not much of a hitch. Or a major conflict. Plus, here’s the weakest male competition ever assigned to a hero. Lucklessly post-intermission, Malhotra’s Luv Vuv story even appears to run out of fuel. Yikes. Worry not. There are sufficient uppers to keep you smiling.onam A Kapoor is excellent, disclosing signs of evolving into a topnotch actress who can combine glamour with sense and sensibility.Because of her and for the youthful zest of the enterprise, chances are that you won’t HATE this Luv Story.

Like his leading man Jay-not-Jai Dhingra (Khan) who's obsessed with 'cool,' Punit works overtime on constructing a hip image of young mindsets on a striking albeit superficial level but the presence of an actual storyline wouldn't hurt. Instead this tweet-length plot, spruced up by Vishal-Shekhar's vivacious soundtrack is overly concerned on highlighting why the commitment-phobic Jay is hell bent on rejecting every romantic stereotype in the Chopra-Johar-Akhtar book by announcing his grammatically-challenged dictum -- I Hate Luv Storys in every given sentence.Truth be told, it's the dynamite equation between Jay and his Simran that keeps its viewer in enthusiasm-mode despite the glaring predictability. it's Imran and Sonam's collective persona and their free-flowing chemistry that makes all the difference. Although the pair deserve better than an amateurishly written romance to scoop out their terrific potential as a combination. I Hate Luv Storys is, at best, a promising even if imperfect indication of things to come in the direction.Visit Site for More

Visit Site for MoreDebut-making writer-director Punit Malhotra has penned a script which makes good-humoured digs at Bollywood romantic films, especially the mushy ones.The first half starts off well but gets repetitive along the way. It, therefore, tends to get boring, also because the pace is a bit slow. The other weak spot is that there is an overdose of film industry jokes, especially in the first half, which may not get the desired reaction from the public.Not only does the pace pick up after interval but there is also more drama in the second half. Even the lighter moments of the post-interval portion are more entertaining and enjoyable. On the minus side is the emotional appeal which is quite low.However, considering all the pros and cons, the film does come across as a whiff of fresh air even though it may not be consistently enjoyable. Secondly, the chemistry between the two lead actors is very palpable and, therefore, a major plus point.

The main problem of this predictable saga, by the newest director from Dharma Productions : the lead couple does not spark enough, making the periperhal characters scurry that much harder to keep it going.The best offerings from Dharma Productions have revelled in corralling large doses of emotion and laughter : `I Hate Luv Storys’ is a half-hearted stab at both. Girly girl Kapoor, in comparison, is stiff and rehearsed. There’s more liveliness to the interactions between Khan and his male BFF ( in fact, the film’s zingiest moments come from them), than Khan and Kapoor.Visit Site for More

The most novel part of I HATE LUV STORYS is its interesting title and cast. But that's just about it. It attempts to be differently similar to the various cliched romantic films, but it is pretty much like one, to the point where it actually makes fun of itself. In the beginning, you like the mockery, but it gets banal as the film progresses.Imran Khan impresses in his hate for love stories but fails when he falls in love.He just about holds the first half together, which is briskly paced but doesn't take the story forward. The second half completely drags. A few humourous scenes scattered in the second half provide much respite in the film which has a wafer-thin script. The climax, though predictable, is still likeable. I HATE LUV STORYS wouldn't make you fall in love with it.Visit Site for More
