Visit Site for MoreParmeet Sethi, writer-director of this week's "Badmaash Company" has been quoted as having said that he took all of six days to hammer out the script of this film. Well, guess what? It shows! Packed with lazy clichés and convenient plot-holes, "Badmaash Company" is unforgivably long and insufferably boring. The acting -- from all four leads -- is nothing to speak of, and Sethi's direction is amateurish to put it politely. 'Flogging the infamous Yash Raj Films formula of stylish costumes, gorgeous foreign locations and hip dance numbers, Sethi delivers a film that is entirely superficial and staggeringly dull. I'm going with one-and-a-half out of five for director Parmeet Sethi's "Badmaash Company". Unless you enjoy being punished, stay far away from this one.

The best thing about BADMAASH COMPANY is that you identify with the mindset of those who aspire to reach the pinnacle of success using shortcuts. The scams and the con games the youth indulge in are easy to decipher and least complicated, which works in its favour. Another strong point is the camaraderie that the four actors share on screen. The film would've fallen flat if the chemistry was missing, but the bonding looks so real that you forget that they are merely enacting those roles.BADMAASH COMPANY has some terrific moments.Final word? BADMAASH COMPANY is a decent attempt, with several captivating moments and power-packed performances by each and every member of its cast. We often grudge that entertainment-laden films make no sense these days, but this one entertains and also makes sense. Watch it!Visit Site for More

Badmaash Company does have a bunch of riveting scenes, although the story does follow a very predictable line of crime and punishment/repentance.Also, what jars most are the repetitive business deals which form a major chunk of the film and say nothing new, other than the fact that the foursome are building their empire on fraud. The film picks up when the cracks begin to appear and the company breaks up due to internal fission. The chemistry between the foursome does have a dash of energy, although most of the time is spent in song and dance. Badmaash Company may not be as buoyant as Bunty aur Babli, the original badmash couple in recent cinema, but it does make for some merry viewing.Visit Site for More

Badmaash Company is a staggeringly tedious film, which takes two hours and twenty three minutes to give us the moral science lesson that honesty is the best policy.The first half of Badmaash Company is dull but somewhat coherent. The bonding between the four friends – the other two are played by Vir Das and Meiyang Chang – has some lively moments. But in the second half, Badmaash Company derails completely. Badmaash Company is a proof that the Yash Raj Films formula is irrevocably broken. Badmaash Company is an extraordinary story set in the 90’s in middle class Mumbai of four young friends who get together to start a company. Their business is an instant hit because they find a way to beat the system...By doing all the wrong things... the right way! Badmaash Company is an unimaginably boring film that is so amateurish it hurts. Peopled entirely by imbeciles, the film is about a bunch of swagger-happy bling-loving scamsters who come up with some mild manipulation with selling sneakers.So smitten is the director with this plan that he shows the team in action again and again, setting up sequence after sequence first so Shahid can slowly explain his plan and then repeating the shots so they can execute that very spelled-out plan. Meanwhile, we yawn and wait. It's hard to take this sort of film seriously, a film that lathers on the same lackluster ideas over and over again, expecting us to lap it up but actually beating us into stupor. There's not a single scene in the film that actually works, and there are a couple that just hurt: including a very poorly thought out reference to a music legend.Nope, all they get right with Badmaash Company are the first three letters of the title.Visit Site for More

Visit Site for MoreIt’s got a background score that sounds suspiciously like Ocean’s 11, a storyline with shades of 21, and clichés that you associate with a ‘Bollywood’ film. In spite of all that, Badmaash Company is immensely watchable. Without some inconsistencies and a little more imagination, it could have been a lot better.Frankly, if Sethi had kept out some unnecessary ‘weepy’ moments, like the one where Karan’s father (Anupam Kher) receives an award, or the one where Karan finds out he’s a father, the film could have been shorter, crisper, and more enjoyable. And we would have got to see a Hindi film in which the protagonists aren’t apologetic about wanting to do something they don’t consider ‘wrong’, even if it may be so morally.That little conventionality and some convenient writing apart, Badmaash Company is fairly entertaining.

Parmeet Sethi’s story is fresh and even the anecdotes in the first half are quite new, youthful and entertaining. The language used by the friends, their attitude, their behaviour are all so typical of the youngsters today that the school- and college-going youth will take an instant liking to the foursome.Also, the tricks adopted by Karan and his company to fool the authorities are intelligent, keeping the viewers constantly involved and engrossed in the proceedings to understand what the ploy is. However, the drama could have been more energetic and a bit more fast-paced. The screenplay takes a dip after interval, especially when cracks start developing in the friendship of the four friends.Although the climax does not have the usual excitement or melodrama, it does have freshness to compensate. The track of Karan’s parents lends the film the emotional appeal although it could have been more pronounced.Visit Site for More

The picture’s premise is strong. The setting is solid. The scam’s quite awesome. The friends make for quite a foursome. All are equally endearing. As are their antics. And then the screen flashes, Interval. Everything dopily goes down a slope thereafter, and onward to America, arrogance and all that jazz. You can tell when a script's half-written. But up till that point, written phenomenally well.We sit through reels contemplating the corrupting nature of dishonesty, over-ambition, greed, arrogance and sundry other hungry beasts -- not very different from the other Shahid Kapoor film (John Matthew Mathan’s Shikhar). And you forget why this ride had started out being so much fun in the first place.Visit Site for More
