The film doesn't get everything right. Some of the supporting players – particularly Keaton’s villain – are underdeveloped. The climatic face-off is also a little overstretched. But these are minor quibbles in a movie that’s both brimming with humor and invested with a lot of heart. A movie that’s fresh and entertaining, and one that marks a welcome return for a superhero we’ve all missed. I’m going with four out of five for Spider-Man Homecoming. It’s light and breezy and so much fun.

Jon Watts starts his film with a clean slate. Unlike the previous outings, his Spider-Man reboot doesn’t necessarily have the aura of a superhero epic. He gives it a quirky campus-caper twist, which evokes mixed views initially. His Peter is solely focussed on being an A list (Avengers like) superhero. There are no sob stories of Uncle Ben or Aunt May either. May in fact, is a hottie (Marisa Tomei)! Once you warm up to Watts’ vision, this Spidey film, replete with humour and thrilling stunt scenes, grows on you and tugs at your heartstrings eventually.Spider-Man: Homecoming breathes new life into the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) as well as the friendly neighbourhood superhero that was forever torn between love and responsibility.

So yeah, to cut a long story short: With great power come great possibilities. From the audience's perspective, this feels more like going back to old school. Which is genuinely heartening to know. That is, before the blast-fest begins, I'm sure!

So what really drives Spider-Man? It is that he remains a boy in the world of men, an orphan at that who cares for his aunt (Tomei, suitably ditsy and sharp), and a guy who pines for a girl. Holland is that, so far. The question is can he remain so, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ever-bloating empire? If this film is an indication, he just might, even though an older Holland seems an incongruity.

After two terrible films, ironically named ‘Amazing’, it seemed like another bad idea when I got to know that Spider-Man was being rebooted again. But boy, was I proved wrong. Spidey’s appearance in Civil War showed signs of fun, but now his standalone film, titled Spider-Man Homecoming has turned out to be the most enjoyable Marvel movie since The Avengers.

Tom Holland’s performance is impressive and cute! Robert Downey Jr in a white Kurta with red dupatta will make any female fan faint! I liked the scene when Spidey rescues his friends in a lift and the action scene in the climax. Nice special effects! This Spider-Man is still a trainee, he is yet to get accustomed to his costume, I didn’t like my favourite childhood superhero being showcased as a helpless and vulnerable teenager who needs someone to save himself while in danger. In the beginning of the first half. This film will not impress you if you are a Spider-man fan.

The question is, Can Marvel ever go wrong? Well the answer is NO, I don’t think so. They know the tips and tricks of how to play to the gallery and successfully churn out an entertaining blockbuster. What’s commendable here is they have done it with a superhero who is already a hit with the fans and have been played twice before in last 15 years. Watch the film for its non-stop entertainment and humour, for Tom Holland and Michael Keaton, for MCU finally getting a good villain after Loki and…well it’s MCU, you are gonna watch it, anyway. This is the Spider-Man we were waiting for all these years.

Peter Parker is just the guy who has all that it takes to appeal to the young audience of today! Director Jon Watts (36) knew how to get a hold on his audience. He gives us a spider-man who is geeky, vulnerable and ambitious to prove himself! His emotions, his challenges are real and his edge of the seat drama will keep you entertained and waiting for the next one. Yes, there is another one coming! You get a glimpse of the updated Spidey suit just before the end credits roll and you know it’s not over yet!
