It’s particularly disheartening that this tumor dressed up to look like a film was directed by Raj Nidimoru & Krishna DK. Their last film, the Saif Ali Khan starrer Happy Ending was the cinematic equivalent of a toothache. With this one they’ve dialed up the pain to the point where watching the movie feels a lot like getting a tooth extraction but without the anesthesia. Not my idea of fun.I’m going with one-and-a-half out five for A Gentleman: Sundar, Susheel, Risky. You have to wonder how films like this continue to get made.

Of course, we aren’t supposed to take any of this seriously. A Gentleman is designed to be good-looking popcorn entertainment. The visuals, in Miami, Mumbai, Goa and Bangkok are slick. And the film does entertain but not consistently enough. The plot is clever but what should have been a breezy 90-minute caper is stretched to over 2 hours. Raj and DK hobble themselves with songs, meandering scenes and cool but pointless action sequences. There simply isn’t enough buoyancy to keep it afloat.

On the whole, A Gentleman has a first half which has appeal for just one section of the audience, and a second half which is very dull and boring. It will, therefore, fail miserably at the ticket windows and will end up entailing heavy losses to the concerned people.

The rubble that bust-ups result in resemble the film as a whole. It is pretty while it lasts, but strangely bland overall. A Gentleman is a pileup of little ideas gone haywire. They could have done with more breathing room.Style over substance: that's the story of A Gentleman. Strictly for Sid Malhotra fans.

This latest outing by Raj and DK is a spy spoof cum thriller cum love story, and while the going is good, it’s not bad. But you have to wait the no-go bits out, and in the two hour and some run time, there are too many of those about.we also wish that there was some more comic-book energy in the plot, which keeps sliding and slowing.

Raj Nidimoru, Krishna DK and Sita Menon's story shows promise initially but later turns haphazard. Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK's screenplay handles the complex narrative well in the first half but overall, it could have been better and more sensible. Things are too unconvincing in the film. On the whole, A GENTLEMAN surprises audience with the developments in the first half but the film goes downhill in the second half completely. At the box office, it will collect the most out of all other releases but it won’t last in theatres for long.

Even though the film’s first half sets the mood and the pace of the film, the second half tends to slow down, but, picks up the pace as the film progresses. The film’s script appears convoluted as way too many events get thrusted in the second half in order to make the film more convincing all of these only lands up making a mess of the film when the ‘suspense’ gets revealed. By the time the film ends, it lands up disappointing the cine goer.

At the end, I would just like to say that 'A Gentleman' is something that you won't regret watching. It will serve you – glamour, action, drama and even comedy. So, if you are planning a film outing this weekend, 'A Gentleman' isn’t a bad choice at all. Sid and Jackie will surely impress you.

A Gentleman is a lazy title for this action-comedy, which is an improvement on the leave-your-brains-at-home genre that we have been (just as) lazily lapping up.The first half has intrigue, thrill and that trademark Raj & DK humour (ironic with a touch of wit). Thereon, it’s a steady decline into the usual action genre with close-quarter combats and heists in big glass buildings. For the most part, the directors keep you engaged. But it’s the elaborate action sequences that will have you fidgeting and checking your phones.

There is also a hard drive that has some confidential information of illegal transactions that adds to the plot of the film. Sorry, my bad… I am using unimportant words like plot. But the film engages you so much that you find yourself rooting for the hero, hoping this hard drive will reach the right hands soon, so that the film can end and you can go home. A Gentleman is a gentle reminder of all other exciting things one can do this weekend, like bury your face in your bed and sleep.

While the plot isn’t particularly riveting, the moments where some witty lines are delivered in a dead-pan manner by the lead hero are enjoyable. While Malhotra and his supreme attractiveness carry the glossy movie forward with some heft, Fernandez is given a glorified ditsy brunette role.Barring a few well-executed action sequences and witty exchange between Malhotra and his mate at work, the film leaves you unmoved. Watch this film if you are looking for voyeuristic delight featuring two attractive people spar and fight the world for a stupid cause.
