Nawaz and Pankaj are two of the best actors working in Hindi cinema right now and I would happily watch a film in which they get to dress up and be badass. Sadly, Munna Michael is not that film. Instead, we are forced to focus on Munna, played by Tiger Shroff. What kept me going was the humour – unintentional of course! There’s also Farah Khan doing a cameo as one of the judges in the dance competition. Her bemused expression reflects our feelings. She knew, as she sat there, that this is the stuff of pure comedy.

But, we forget, sitting next to Mahinder at all times is the shaven-chested, curly-blonde-hair-spouting, shirtless and hat-clad Tiger Shroff a.k.a Munna Michael – a hero as Bollywood likes them. Munna will dance, Munna will fight, Munna will dance and fight together, Munna will love his father wholeheartedly, Munna will serve Mahinder unquestioningly, Munna will win over the local beauty, and Munna will win all the dance competitions he enters, across cities. Whatever the story is. Yes, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, we get you. It pays to be fair in Bollywood.

MJ should live forever, MJ should live forever, but this isn’t the right tribute to the moonwalking King Of Pop. This forgettable 138-minute film can be better described as this one-liner somebody whispered in the dark right before the end credits: Ye sab alag hi zone me hain (They’re in a different zone).

Debutante Nidhhi Agerwal isn't a finished article. Tiger Shroff, with all his limitations, is beginning to get there, but what his choice of roles and films tells us is that dance and action are his scene. But in the absence of a coherent screenplay to hang all the hyperactivity from, his grand scenes fizzle out. Munna Michael is only for fans of Tiger Shroff. All ye that haven't yet figured out what he is about, stay out of the way. You aren't likely to go home humming and dancing after watching this one.

Director Sabbir Khan and writer Vimi Datta have designed a film that is serviced by Shroff’s two skills – dancing and action. In spite of being predictable story with slack storytelling, Khan once again (Heropanti, Baaghi) showcases just what is needed to keep Shroff’s fans satisfied. Put in enough of these two elements and who cares about logic, story, acting or originality.

The trailer looked promising and I had entered the hall with some expectations if not a lot. But the film turned out to be a disappointment. Even Tiger’s dance and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s brilliant performance will not be able to save this film. One and half stars!

Nawaz continues to be a revelation in each film. Here he adds a new dimension to his terribly mean, horribly funny routine, making you chuckle. Well, if you’re in the mood to get rid of the monsoon blues with the foot-tapping ding dang, ding dang ditty, you should get introduced to Munna Michael; he’s not making breaking any new ground, but his moves are certainly infectious.

Tiger Shroff is earnest, dances well but needs to break his fixed deposit with Sabbir Khan that’s lending him no returns at all. He has done four films so far, three of which come from the same director who has depth of a saucer. What’s frustrating is Nawazuddin’s presence in such insipid films. It’s like directors use him to justify the mediocrity they churn out in name of movies. After Freaky Ali, Te3n and Raees, Munna Michael shows once again how we let one of the finest actors of our country down, by making him ham time and again to gain a few stupid laughs. Dear Nawaz, you don’t need to prove you are a great actor. You just need to choose wise buddy. After this ordeal, I want to bleach my eyes, my system with some good movies. Any suggestion guys?
