Logic indeed is in short supply here, and frankly the real magic the filmmakers conjure up is the ability to keep this franchise on the road for all these years with such minimal creative investment. Golmaal 5..? Wanna bet it’s on the way? Meanwhile, because so little of it feels fresh or original, I’m going with two out of five for Golmaal Again.

Rohit Shetty’s direction is very good. He succeeds in presenting a laugh riot to his target audience. His narration is fast-paced and gives the viewers no time to think. On the whole, Golmaal Again is a very good entertainer and will do well at the ticket windows.

Golmaal is the screwball comedy franchise that has been kept alive for the last eleven years. Reruns on satellite channels always make you chuckle, no matter from which point you catch the film. Like its previous instalments, this one too has moments of unadulterated fun. The gags alternate between being truly funny and averagely routine but you find yourself laughing uncontrollably because each of the actors here is a delight to watch.

this is a marginally better film than Golmaal 3 or Golmaal Returns, not like that's saying much. The reason is Devgn, who was painful in the earlier sequels, but is rather likeable this time as a scaredy-cat lummox who shyly falls for a much younger girl. This may not be a memorably funny film, but unlike the last two, it isn't objectionably bad. It is, however, far too long and cumbersome. If there is an audience who loves this, we should try and see what that says about us.

For someone like me, no fan of the franchise, there’s usually very little to like in the ‘Golmaal’ films. And this time around too, I had resigned myself to a couple of hours of deja-view. But I have to say that the addition of a few new faces, and moving the location from the beaches of Goa to the green slopes of Ooty, helped freshen things up. And though there were the familiar risible lines about people who can’t speak, and a creepy running thread about older men and girls young enough to be their daughter, the usual slew of jokes were not as tasteless. A couple led to actual laughter.

On the whole GOLMAAL AGAIN is an ideal fun ride which delivers ample entertainment quotient without any logic. An out-and-out entertainer, it's sure to light up the celebratory festive mood. At the box office, the movie has all it takes to emerge as a sure-fire hit although the real test of the film will begin post Monday.

Watch or Not?: Absolutely! It’s true to its genre – a horror comedy. There were moments when I wasn’t able to hear the dialogues because the audience was laughing out so loud. Go for it! It’s Diwali and some laughs here and there has never harmed anybody. Keep your expectations limited as Golmaal 3 was on another level. This neither will disappoint you nor will live up to your hopes if they’re sky high. Three Stars!

The film is a mix of comedy and fantasy. Golmaal Again is about ghosts but Rohit makes it very kid-friendly rather than going for actual scares. Despite a weak screenplay, Rohit goes full throttle at the entertainment quotient, mainly depending on the on-screen camaraderie between his actors. It’s Diwali and for all Golmaal fans, there couldn’t be a bigger celebration than this. Despite its flaws, Golmaal Again will bring in the smiles.

Overall, Golmaal Again is an entertaining watch targeted at families looking for a harmless break. Golmaal Again is packed with so many sub-plots that at one point, you may find yourself losing track of what the core is all about. But clearly, the writer’s intention is not to convince you. The lead stars have enough chemistry and charisma to make you stay put in the theatre and you won’t regret the three hours spent watching this one. If however, you like to take your brains with you to the movies, this Golmaal might not be the way to spend a memorable Diwali.
