Dedh Ishqiya Movie Review

While ISHQIYA was earthy and rustic, one gets to witness an alternate universe in DEDH ISHQIYA. There are layers to the story that baffle you. This time, it's even more dicey and perilous. On the whole, DEDH ISHQIYA is a worthy follow up to the widely admired ISHQIYA. Powerful writing, superb direction and outstanding performances make DEDH ISHQIYA a must watch. Just don't miss it!

On the whole, Dedh Ishqiya is a dull fare and will not find favour with the youth. Classes may like the film but that will be a very small section of the audience. Its high-flown Urdu dialogues are a dampener. It will end up entailing heavy losses to all concerned.

Dedh Ishqiya is a sequel to the zany 2010 black comedy Ishqiya. Like its prequel, the idiom and the setting are rural. What's also nice is the contemporary thought woven in .So, the desi-yuppies can connect. Vishal Bharadwaj's dialogue keeps you in splits. The free usage of words like sex and chu**yapaa tickle the funny bone.

This is a rare joy. It’s a genuinely smart film. It’s beautifully, lovingly shot. The music aids the narrative instead of distractingly taking it hostage. It’s the most quotable Hindi movie in years. It's a sequel that leaves even a highly original first-part far behind. And, for a film so accessible, it’s armed with the most cunning, most delicious twist. It’s terrific -- and a half. Dedhriffic, then.

A melange of genres, the genesis of Dedh Ishqiya's moods might've roots in the works of a cross-section of cinema -  but it stays consistent to the form it chooses and creates an atmosphere that only comes when hearing good poetry. Oh yes, the sequel, the film significantly better than Part I. Dedh Ishqiya - it's texture, dialogue, and performances - make it good enough to hold up in a repeat viewing. And that's a lot more than you can say about the majority of other films.

Dedh Ishqiya is in many respects appreciably more enthralling than Ishqiya. Dedh Ishqiya entertains, but does so in a manner that does not trifle with the intelligence of the audience. Here is an exceptional film that does not have to negotiate the kind of facile crowd-pleasing narrative formulations that most Bollywood flicks must necessarily wade through in order to get to the Rs 200-crore mark. Dedh Ishqiya might not get there, but it is a triumph of measured craftsmanship and storytelling finesse.

There is much to be liked in the film, and I wish all of it had been as good as the scintillating bits. I also missed some of the robustness and the spikiness of the original.‘Dedh Ishqiya’ has its high points, but it isn’t a stayer. Next time I want `dhai’ all the way.

Dedh Ishqiya doesn't want to be a successful franchise, it wants to be a good movie which keeps the viewers entertained. Dedh Ishqiya's success can be attributed to the taut story of Darab Farooqui which is aided by Chaubey's fine screenplay, Vishal Bhardwaj's rib-tickling, naughty dialogues and Dr Bashir Badr's lovely Urdu poems.

Dedh Ishqiya is smarter, funnier, richer and way more gorgeous than its predecessor.  The film deserves to make hundreds of crores, because it’s a hundred times better than part one. It’s a rare movie that delves in intelligent humor and succeeds so brilliantly. It transported me to a more cheerful and less cynical headspace and I fell for it all the way.

There are love triangles, a bromance, a delicious villain, multiple twists, car chases and, of course, lots of humour. Compared to Ishqiya, Dedh Ishqiya is far more elaborate, complicated and ambitious.Dedh Ishqiya is an absolute delight because all its parts fit beautifully

The film rides on a good story, great acting performances, brilliant screenplay, interesting dialogues and a twist, which will leave you awestruck. If Ishqiya was rustic, Dedh Ishqiya is royal. Just like the prequel Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad have given an outstanding performance. Dedh Ishqiya is fractionally better than its prequel. For all the cinema lovers, who prefer acting and story over masala, it’s time to book your seats.
