A slow and gradual buildup is welcome but failure to accelerate the pace invites boredom. Ambiguous motives and monotony don't leave a great impression either. The climax looks unconvincing and not unnerving as a result. You feel exhausted at the end of it.The Boy is strange, odd and even awkward but we hope the sequel is truly scary... the real deal.

From a film about parents dealing with a serious problem it becomes a story about a woman (Greta) alone in that size mansion with a doll that size.Any hopes still left die with the painfully ludicrous third part that has to be seen to be believed. Or maybe not.

The big twist in the last 30 minutes is almost bizarre. It doesn’t add up and nearly undoes the good job its done in parts until then. In a sudden turn of events, it becomes a slasher movie. And as a viewer, who was hoping to see a horror film that rises beyond the generic, we feel cheated.
