For a romantic drama, the film has its most essential element right - the love story is impeccable. It is mighty flawed otherwise. The sub tracks dilute the build-up of the movie. In the first half, the film wastes too much of its time and energy in what they call 'the make-over of the Vibhuti aunty Aashiqui 2 did a good job at bringing back the 90s' melodramatic romance back but Sanam Teri Kasam is barely as compelling.

The one to watch is fresh import from Pakistan, the interestingly-named Mawra Hocane. Her role requires her to be the kind of submissive, spectacles-swaddled `good’ girl who has difficulty in snaffling IIT-IIM types ( which, according to this film, are the only ones to go for), who needs to be made over prettily to rescue her from permanent behenji-dom oblivion, and the kind who has to look for approving nods from the nearest male before taking a decision, and so on. But the fresh-faced, unaffected Hocane rises above it all, and shows us how effervescence can light up the screen. Someone give her another movie, quick.

They look good together and can certainly act. While the Pakistani actress is absolutely stunning (even before the makeover), Harsh flaunts his chiseled body whenever he can in the film. The music is also good, but there is nothing to boast about the story. Skip this one because you won't be missing out on anything special.

Editing department clearly has issues. After a barely bearable first half, the second half seems to be running forever. Watching the characters cry buckets of water over and over increases the run-time of this film, leaving us teary eyes as to when will this soap operaish film end. Sanam Teri Kasam is like watching Aashiqui 2; there is lots of weeping on both sides and the audiences are forced to go through so much drama. A 2/5 it is!

Every good love story has a touch of the absurd. But Sanam Teri Kasam is neither a believable romantic yarn nor are its stabs of stupidity within the realms of the passable. The film is helmed by not one but two directors, and that’s one too many, but it’s completely directionless.Sanam Teri Kasam is excruciatingly painful. The torture it inflicts has as much to do with its length as with what transpires between the start and end points. This is an unmitigated disaster, a travesty of the medium that only a miracle can save from sinking without a trace.

Even though there is nothing outstanding about the film's script, the film's premise still holds promise due to its unusual story (Radhika Rao & Vinay Sapru) and simplicity. The years of experience that the film's directors (Radhika Rao & Vinay Sapru) have in terms of technicalities and other aspects clearly shows in the film. Even though the film makes for a decent watch, one just cannot help but draw (immediate) parallels between SANAM TERI KASAM and 'like-minded' films ANKHIYON KE JHAROKHON SE and the more recent KATTI BATTI. On the whole, SANAM TERI KASAM is a decent assortment of good performances and superb music. However, the excessive length of the film will act as a biggest single drawback at the box-office.

Sanam Teri Kasam had potential in the form of two promising debutantes Mawra Hocane and Harshavardhan Rane, but a regressive script and over the top direction killed it from becoming more than just another tragic love story.
