Sonali Cable Hindi Movie Review

Leading lady Rhea Chakraborty is uninhibited but inconsistent, her bumpy Marathi accent never quite convincing. Between her and a script that sadly feels half-baked, Sonali Cable is weighed down, unable to take flight. I'm going with two out of five. It's got its moments, but they're few and far between.Visit Site for more

However, the relevant premise (an underdog's fight for survival) gets marred by an ineffective performance from the protagonist and inconsistency in the pace, character buildup and narrative. The storytelling fails to evoke a sense of urgency that the character should ideally portray. Everything seems hunky-dory, with unnecessary songs plugged in, until characters get randomly killed. The film has a good concept but lacks the vibrancy and spirit of the city it is set in. Overall, it faces 'connectivity' issues.Visit Site for more

This could well have been a film like Band Baajaa Baaraat or Rocket Singh, films where we saw the lead characters innovate against the odds and do something their bigger rivals couldn't. I just wish Sonali had been given more to actually do rather than rely on every 'good' person in the film to show up for the climax and lend their (very insignificant) hands.Visit Site for more

It is indeed sad to see this man struggle with this film at regular intervals. Despite having an interesting concept and good actors, he seems to have not got it right. Shaky camera angles at certain places, a boring first half that's doubled up with an insensible second half leads the film story to nowhere. The film, which could have upped its entertainment quotient, fails to do so primarily because its poor script and bad direction. On the whole, SONALI CABLE is a weak film that can be skipped.Visit Site for more

‘Sonali Cable’ has a nice premise, especially relevant in this age of the permanently wired universe, soulless corporations, and the scams that come out of acquiring spectrum. But its execution is much less so.This could have been a modern day fable, but ‘Sonali Cable’ is not that film.Visit Site for more

The promise ends with the title. Sonali Cable is a superficial representation of a trade that has frustrated Mumbaikars for a decade-a relevant profession it had an opportunity to enlighten viewers about, the way Rocket Singh did for computer-service firms.Visit Site for more

Sonali Cable is single-mindedly focused on the problems it wants to highlight: corruption in our system and encroachment of big, rich players in the local market. Unfortunately, the script, selected for the Mumbai Mantra-Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab 2012, fails horribly by the time it reaches the execution table. While Anupam, Rhea and Ali are convincing for most parts of their roles, everybody else in the film seems to be sleep-walking through their roles. A few romantic scenes between Rhea and Ali only add to the drag and soon you are left wondering if you deserved this onslaught on your senses.Visit Site for more

Sonali Cable is one of those films that will infuriate you with its dragging plotline. When you are on the brink of boredom’s last limit, it will push you down to convey that the film can go worse. Now, that I have made it clear that I have hated the film, let me answer why. The film is a convoluted mess that bites into more than it can chew.Visit Site for more
