Oculus English Movie Review
It is by far one of the most cleverly executed psychological horror films that puts you through hell without resorting to gore. The non-linear narrative structure sees the past overlapping with present, real with unreal, facts with hallucinations and truth with deception. Set in different time periods, with the past colliding with present, the film plays evil mind games that will make you think twice before dismissing occurrences as 'hallucinations'. The grotesque events will challenge you to question your sanity, just like the characters. If you find mirrors spooky, stay away. And if you love to check yourself out in the mirror, this low-budget thriller will compel you to think otherwise.Visit Site for more

Visit Site for moreThe narrative is beautifully non-linear and although confusing at times, it shows how tightly Flanagan weaves his tale. However, Oculus could have been edited a lot better. The film runs a little too long to keep you engaged, almost feeling torturous towards the end (and not in the good way), even though it is only about a 100 minutes long. Oculus is a story that has its fair share of goosebump-inducing moments but it would have been told better if it were cut short.

Flangan has enough ammunition in terms of writing and effects to keep you engaged till the very end. Unlike the usual "don't look behind" tricks, he uses a lot of back ground subplots, psychological elements and characters who are unpredictable to raise the scare. There are no blood curling screams or grotesque faces, instead the horror is often implied and it works because its never over the top. The sound effects and back ground score is in sync with the storyline raising the scare quotient at the right moment. Smart and intelligently written, Oculus raises the right scares to keep you on the edge of your seat.Visit Site for more
