Insidious Chapter 2 English Movie Review

Ratings:3.5/5 Review By: Renuka Vyvahare Site:Times Of India (TOI)
if you don't expect every horror film to be The Conjuring, you'll find this one quite entertaining. However, since the sequel is clearly made with an intention to cash in on the success of its much more superior prequel, be prepared to find the scares a tad unimaginative, especially if you love the genre.Insidious Chapter 2 is tense and intriguing. If you haven't seen the previous film, this might work better for you. Also, for the fainthearted, if you analyze your dreams way too much or face sleep disorders, stay away. Note: You may not like this film, if you find supernatural thrillers disturbing.

Insidious Chapter 2 is based on a fairly interesting and not widely explored concept. Astral projection could be a truly horrifying, especially when one's child is involved. Despite this the film fails to give you too many goosebumps. There are moments but that's all there is to it. It is futile to watch this film without watching the previous one. Homework becomes an extremely important part of your viewing experience here. Insidious Chapter 2 is definitely not for the faint-hearted but if you're a seasoned horror fan -- by which I mean, if you have peed your pants after watching Poltergeist at age 4 -- then you might as well skip this and watch Sansani. That's scarier.

The second chapter is hugely flawed and the culprit here is the sense of comfort and laziness that seems to have set with the writers. There is nothing extraordinarily unexpected that is given to us. Most of the scare moments come when they are meant to, unlike the prequel which took us into the minds of the parents who truly cared for the return of their son. This time around the plot seems too contrived and tailor made to cash in on the franchiseWith no new tricks to impress us with, Insidious: Chapter 2 isn’t as scary as its previous effort.
