Tevar Hindi Movie Review
Rating:2/5 Review By: Rajeev Masand Site:CNN IBN
Aside from a few striking scenes, like one in which Pintu throws Radhika off a building when Gajinder and his goons have cornered them, Sharma doesn't do anything particularly new or original with this decidedly 80s formulaic film. The only thing worse than the fact that Tevar is so long is that you've seen all of this many times before. I'm going with a generous two out of five. I came away with a throbbing headache.Visit Site for more

Tevar -- yet another of those mindless South remakes we have been indulging in so faithfully ever since Aamir Khan showed us the way in Ghajini -- is a tiring slog, devoid of personality, riding unfairly on the shoulders of a young lad. This simply-plotted film sloppily carries on and on, and while some action sequences have an intriguingly gritty texture -- at one point a goon slams Kapoor in the chest with a giant old-school istri -- Tevar emerges an overdone, underwhelming film with zero charm.Visit Site for more

Arjun Kapoor is always likeable on the screen, but the rugged persona that he assumes here - a combo, in the character's own words, of Rambo, Terminator and Salman Khan - is not up his street. Tevar is somewhat tolerable only as long as Bajpayee is on the screen, or when Raj Babbar, as the hero's police officer-father, and Subrat Dutta, as the villain's principal henchman, are allowed to do their bit. The film needed much more than that in order to pass muster.Visit Site for more

Amit Sharma's Tevar, a remake of the Telugu hit Okkadu (2003), is over-a-decade-old wine served on a larger canvas.the film should've been reduced by a good 20 minutes - it doesn't run quite as fast as Arjun does on screen. Amit makes a smooth progression from 30-second commercials to a 159-minute-long film. His penchant for colours, the right use of the Taj Mahal (as a monument of love), his finesse in presenting the real locations indicate his adroitness in filmmaking.Visit Site for more

A wholesome entertainer with power-packed drama, high-octane action and heartfelt romance. Arjun Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Manoj Bajpayee and Raj Babbar are in top form. Amit Sharma is a director to watch out for. Tevar wins you over completely. Has all the ingredients to strike a chord with moviegoers. 2015 should start with a bang!Visit Site for more

Right from its opening frames, ‘Tevar’ makes you a couple of promises : that it will be violent, vicious and crude; and that it will do nothing new. On both counts, that is exactly what it delivers. Same old biff bang thud, covered by blood, bones and mud. Arjun Kapoor does a backslide to his ‘Gunday-Ishaqzaade’ mode. He does the action bits well enough, but his voice is still reedy. It lacks roar.Visit Site for more

'Tevar' starts with a handicap. This remake of a 2003 Telugu film, 'Okkudu', has a jaded, well-worn story that's been repeated several times over. But, ironically, they have not only failed to do so, but also managed to take it further back a decade or two, uncomfortably reminding us of the terrible '80s phase of Bollywood. Watch it if you miss those old '80s masala no-brainers, or if you are an Arjun Kapoor fan.Visit Site for more

On the whole, TEVAR is a stylised masala entertainer that'll give you enough reasons to have a good time in the cinema hall. Yes, the story doesn't have anything new to offer, but the wonderful performances, energetic music score, stupendous action and the fact that it's a clean entertainer makes it a fun watch. TEVAR is worth your time. Go for it.Visit Site for more

Arjun is still not actor enough to pull off what Salman Khan does. Sadly the year starts with a disappointing film. The good thing however is that the quality of films can only go up from here.Skip it!Visit Site for more
