Khamoshiyan  Hindi Movie Review

The ‘buri aatma’ gets its chance to keep the make-up artists busy, and to give us a couple of frights. But, as always, Bollywood can’t really get serious about horror, because it needs to shove in a song at that very moment. Scary `bhoots’ are all very well, but they can’t trump ‘geets’ that will play in a loop. ‘Sargoshiyan’ rhymes so well with `khamoshiyan’, no?

Khamoshiyan makes you shiver. But not in fear. It just makes you shake in embarrassment for all the ghosts and spirits who are so royally snubbed and insulted by such travesties of terror. These are three bodies with no claim to a soul, grappling with a script in a power-piqued film that mocks every sensible rule of filmmaking. All the fearsome threesome does is make out in different locations and positions. Maybe they thought they were shooting for a condom ad.Sex never looked more boring.

Khamoshiyan is so consumed by its cheesy scares-sex-scares-sex pattern, the upshot is tacky and unintentionally hilarious. At one point, the exasperated ghoul actually has to explain the range of its supernatural mumbo jumbo to Khamoshiyan’s daft protagonists.

This is so because the genre happens to be supernatural — which also means the ghost isn't scary enough and the circumstances depicted are hilarious for the most part. In case you are looking for laughter punctuated by sudden horror, lovely dialogues and illogical scenes, you should watch this one. If not, maintain silence as well as distance.

Sex is good and so is music but a gripping story and execution are missing in KHAMOSHIYAN and that's the problem. On the whole, KHAMOSHIYAN fails to impress or entertain (an extra half star for music though). In these changing times, audience wants something fresh even in the Horror/ Supernatural genre. Bhatts need to realize that at the earliest. For now, you should stay away from this Echoing-Silence!

: Khamoshiyan is not an out and out horror film, in fact it is a decent mixture of horror and romance This is a typical Bhatt film with its horrex elements. If you wish to get scared, then this film is not that top notch but just as a breather from all the regular Bollywood dramas, this could make up for a decent watch. The sets look good with their creepy interiors and eerie silences work good for this film. Not a must-watch material but passable for regular cine-goers.
