 Watched #Sarbjit. A film that leaves you with myriad feelings. Shocked, stunned, saddened at the ordeal Sarbjit and his family underwent...Sarbjit grabs your attention from start and never loses track. Intense episodes, emotional undercurrent, simmering rage are a big plus...Omung Kumar chooses a tough subject and narrates it most compellingly. Captures pain, pathos, emotions meticulously.Sarbjit shakes you up as it reaches the finale. Relevant, engaging and volatile.

 Sarbjit is an irresponsibly sloppy film, a film so focused on artless emotional manipulation and trying to make the audience weep, that it trivialises an important true-life story. Instead of a film about a wrongfully imprisoned farmer, Kumar -- whose film stars Randeep Hooda in the title role -- appears intent to create the story of a true martyr, even though Sarabjit, once caught, didn't have much of a choice in the matter. Yet Kumar wants to give us The Passion Of The Hooda.

 With a story so touching and a performance this brilliant, the director had half his battle won. He has more or less managed to pull it off too, but it definitely could have been better if there was more emotional depth and steadfast sincerity towards the plot, instead of taking it through the usual filmi melodramatic route once in a while.

 The script seems more intent on giving the heroine a platform to holler and hector her way though than on crafting a balanced narrative that tracks the impact of Sarabjit's disappearance on the family as a whole. With the star not shining all that bright and the actors in the mix not allowed to play the game their way, Sarbjit is a well-meaning outing that fails to do justice to its subject. Watch it only if you are an Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan fan no matter what.

 Omung Kumar is obviously passionately involved with the cause of prisoners on both sides of the border and at the end makes an impassioned appeal that politics shouldn't be played when innocent lives are involved. On the whole, SARBJIT is a landmark film with great performances and a superbly told narrative. The entertainment quotient is missing which is compensated by the phenomenal manner in which the story is told. At the box office, it will be appreciated by matured audience.

 And yet, only and only for Randeep's sparkling performance, we suggest you don’t miss Sarbjit. He makes his pain your own with his pitch-perfect rendering. Well, only if good intentions could make good films, Randeep’s efforts wouldn’t be lost in the dance and drama of this humdrum feat. For all the effort he has put into this movie, he definitely deserved better.

 Sarbjit fails to rise above its commercial nature to actually hit you in the gut with its real story. A contrived plot and over the top performance by Aish makes this movie a lengthy affair. For not doing justice to the actual Sarabjit issue, I’d say this film is passable.

 Sarbjit feels too contrived and never becomes powerfully evocative.Sarbjit would have benefitted greatly had it been a no-frills affair rather than making it a mainstream movie filled with commercial elements. The good news is that Sarbjit — which deals with the tenuous relationship and long-enduring tensions between India and Pakistan — isn’t reduced to a jingoistic exercise. Rai Bachchan is making a plea to all to be humane, however some of her voice is drowned as the makers are desperate to make it an edible film for the Bollywood movie fans who like a bit of dance and drama.

Sarbjit Story:  

Biopic of Sarabjit Singh, a farmer residing at Bhikiwind, Punjab, near the Indo-Pak border, crossed the border after having a couple of drinks. However, he was mistaken to be an Indian spy and was sentenced to capital punishment. The film Sarabjit however will present the struggle that Dalbir went through while fighting for justice for her brother. Dalbir was very close to her brother and considered him like a son.
