Neither intimate nor empathy driven, the characters exists merely as a shell to showcase famous names. Talented performers like Kathryn Hahn, Jennifer Aniston, Lucy Punch, Owen Wilson have precious little to do other than look good and shower their starry glow on the production. Imogen Poots is hopelessly miscast. She just doesn't manage to get her act right-either in accent or dramatic heft. Hers is a performance so vacuous it's just insufferable.

She's Funny That Way is a charming little film which benefits from its quaint milieu. Peter Bogdanovich weaves in the element of simplicity and affability, characteristics conspicuous to him, traces of which we saw 43 years ago in his most memorable movie What's up, Doc? Wilson is crackling and Jennifer Aniston, as the snappy shrink, is terrific. Imogen Poots does justice to the material at hand.

The film falls short at certain patches and it tends to drag a little. However, the movie captures the commotion in the story well and every character is developed perfectly. The climax is almost fifteen minutes long but is able to keep us entertained and interested in the brouhaha. In the end, we agree with Izzy. Everyone needs some magic from time to time, but is Bogdanovich’s magic enough? Watch it to find out. Why You Should Watch The Film: This film is not your typical romcom and that sets it apart. Watch it to see a contemporary screwball comedy from a master of many.
