Insurgent  English Movie Review

However Winslet both looks gorgeous and is completely on point while Watts, despite brief screen time, is convincing as the warrior-leader of the Factionless. You'll also wish that Whiplash star Miles Teller had more screen time. Yes, he's that good. So, the only reasons to watch Insurgent are the very few decent performances and of course, the flashy special effects.

Even as it makes no concession for people who may have not read Veronica Roth’s Divergent books, or who may have missed the first movie based on them entirely, Insurgent works better than its 2014 predecessor. It moves faster, puts Tris (Woodley) firmly at the centre of things, and its action scenes sizzle with thrills and suspense

If you have watched the first film, there would be many things you liked about Tris. The foremost being Tris as a viable alternative to Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. Second would be a story that, while not being unheard of, had a good thing going with a young, vivacious cast. Think of this as an inbetweener you have to get through to get to the final two films in this series. Tedious, but necessary.

Overall, the film may be a let down for the fans and followers. But since it concludes on an open-ended note, it obviously means more sequels to come! Why you should watch this film? If you are a huge fan of the series or Shailene Woodley, then you should probably catch this sci-fi thriller over the weekend. Otherwise its advisable to re-read the second book again.
