White House Down Movie Review
Ratings:3/5 Review By: Renuka Vyavahare Site:Times Of India (TOI)
White House Down is as predictable as it can get. In spite of the cliched plot, it is still an explosion-filled action spectacle that keeps you on the edge of your seat. But WHD is not just an action-thriller. After a while, when the loud explosions seem repetitive, it's the humour that keeps you engrossed. The film has its share of unconvincing moments but if 'One-man-saving-the-world' is your thing and if over-the-top, escapist action is what you seek, White House Down delivers all of that.

Roland Emmerich’s White House Down highlights the perfect paradox -- a highly political story packaged in a harebrained action flick. If you’re an action junkie and a fan of the genre, as I sometimes find myself to be, this film might be a good option for you. However, it is important to remember that White House Down was crafted for Channing Tatum to don a tight vest and punch, kick, cut and open fire at everything that moves; and as long as you’re okay with that, White House Down won’t let you down.

There is a certain comfort you can derive from these predictable mega-budget monsters. Trouble is, it goes on too long. It has several climactic moments, but every time you ready for the exit, the film bounces back again for the next round. And the next explosion. In the last 20 minutes, military drones, helicopters, bulletproof limos, snarling armymen, ambitious politicos, petrified hostages and media hordes are all running around like headless chickens around the White House, and you've lost count of the blasts. Much before it happened, I was ready for the end.
