“Do Dooni Chaar”, written and directed by Habib Faisal, is a charming slice-of-life comedy about a middle-class family in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar that aspires for a little more in life. Despite its few shortcomings, however, “Do Dooni Chaar” is an enjoyable watch. The film benefits considerably from attention to detail, starting with the Duggal home which doesn’t appear to be a set, but looks lived in..The heart of “Do Dooni Chaar” lies in its characters and in the performances of the actors who inhabit them. Both kids do a competent job, but it’s Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh who make this an unmissable experience for the sheer chemistry they continue to share, and for the entirely believable flesh-and-blood characters they are able to create out of the Duggals. For them alone, don’t miss this film. ((pause)) It’s not as witty as “Khosla Ka Ghosla”, but it’s more enjoyable than many films you’ve seen recently. Go watch it!

Come to think of it, DO DOONI CHAAR is a complete contrast to what's being made these days. It's far from glossy, the setting is a middle class house in a tiny colony of Delhi, the characters are far from classy, the problems are very, very real and yes, there's a message towards the final moments of the film. But it's these factors that make DO DOONI CHAAR a notch above the commonplace. Most importantly, this film has soul, which most films lack these days.Final word? The life of the ordinary is presented most extra-ordinarily here. DO DOONI CHAAR is a little gem that should not be missed! On the whole, DO DOONI CHAAR is a delight to watch. Just don't miss this one!

Sweet, simplistic and sensitive: Do Dooni Chaar is a be-fitting ode to the teaching community and makes you remember all those wonderful teachers who taught you some of the most important lessons of life that stayed with you much longer than the bookish ones.Seminal questions, simply answered: Do Dooni Chaar should be mandatory viewing for the teaching community. The film shall make them feel good. More importantly, it demands a dekko for the delightful performances by Rishi and Neetu -- and the kids -- who celebrate the extraordinariness of ordinary people with gusto and verve.

Do Dooni Chaar has something you don’t see often in the movies these days: grace. There is an inherent niceness and decency in this story of a middle class family struggling to upgrade from a scooter to a car. So you overlook the somewhat annoying voice-over, the insistently loud background music and the occasional clumsy patches and go home with a smile on your face.Treading very gently, the director reminds us of what is truly important. Do Dooni Chaar is a modest film and I mean that in the best sense of the word. I recommend that you make time for it.

Set in a one-bedroom flat in Delhi , Do Dooni Char is successfully recreates the middle-class ethos. On the flip side, there is just a little too much of Rishi Kapoor. Debut director Habib Faizal manages to draw you effortlessly into 'the Duggal world'. But the script lacks enough meat to keep you hooked. The simple story gets stretched endlessly in a mindless fashion. One pretty much knows how the film is going to end. But especially in the second half of the film the journey with the Duggals gets monotonous and inane. Ostensibly Do Dooni Char is about the Duggal family. The film is a must see for all those who enjoy dramas about middle-class morality. And of course Rishi Kapoor fans who are spread across generations. The rest may give this a miss...

Do not put two and two together and presume that a small-budget film without any big star value would end up being an average fare. Do Dooni Chaar is delightfully different cinema. It has a solid story idea supported by some excellent acting talents. Never has the middleclass family been portrayed on the Indian screen with such authenticity since Sai Paranjape’s films.What makes you connect compellingly with the chronicles of the Duggal family is the fact that, at some point or the other in life, you must have certainly come across such characters, conflicts or crisis. This is ‘car’efully crafted charming cinema. Do not miss Do Dooni Chaar !

Here’s a sweet, Delhicatessen surprise packet. Neither rabidly formulaic nor elliptically arty, this look at the aspirations and anxieties of a lower middle-class family, evokes a smile of rueful recognition. It could happen to you, to any of us, whether you’re longing for that mammoth LED TV set,  the Blackestberry in town, or a Bvlgari cologne instead of the the Oldest Spice. Nice. The screenplay is compact-`n’-credible, faltering only towards the climax, which alas becomes as chaotic as one of those Priyadashan’s feverish finales. Above all, the gem of a movie belongs to the lead pair. Mr and Mrs Kapoor make Do Dooni Chaar an eminently See-grade movie. It’s what good entertainment is all about. Go for it now.

Habib Faisal’s debut film is built on a nice idea: that greed is not, after all, such a good thing. He lets it dangle in front of his characters like a juicy carrot. If they gobble it, they will get a snazzy car, which will be every neighbour’s envy, and their eternal pride. A little loosening up could have made this film a delight. It has a lot going for it. The kids are lifelike and easy. Rishi Kapoor shows why he’s such a stayer, though you wish he didn’t come off quite so bland. The edge is provided by a cracklingly-in-form Neetu Singh Kapoor as the supportive wife, who wouldn’t mind more, but is content with what she has. The Duggals are a good fit, and enough reason for an admission ticket.
