There’s an interesting idea buried somewhere under those layers of flab in director Rajat Kapoor’s Fatso. But it’s a pity the film’s fantastical premise isn’t mined for enough laughs…It’s Ranvir Shorey alone who emerges the saving grace of Fatso, delivering a fine, vulnerable performance that never slips into caricature. Even when the film loses steam and the script lets him down, it’s only Shorey who holds your attention as the pudgy underdog hero.In the end, Fatso never exploits its full potential, and opts for a far-too-convenient resolution. I’m going with two out of five for director Rajat Kapoor’s Fatso. Enjoyable only in bits.

FATSO has a winning beginning, but it tapers as it moves towards the middle and concluding act. While the plot had the potential to develop into a captivating experience, it loses focus midway and more so towards the final moments. The impact it ought to create is simply missing. One of the reasons being, why doesn't Ranvir tell Gul the truth about what actually transpired.On the whole, FATSO appeals in bits and spurts. It had the potential, but doesn't quite reach there!

Fatso's a whimsical film with a rhythm somewhere between jazz and an old Bollywood song. you imagine Fatso's second half will rev up.Alas. Here's where Fatso flops down heavily. Any sense of magic, of life rescued from death, love saved from vanishing, even the funny ironies of a slim guy stuck in a fat form, is totally missing. The 'friends group' is unconvincingThe film seems overwhelmed by its own smart styling - little details like a dress drying on a clothesline, a girl rubbing hand-cream onto her palms, are clever. But there's too much style, not enough substance

Tragically enough, the film doesn't stick to the guns the concept inherently offers. The basic idea is a fine one, offering both room for smart humour and murky moral ambiguity, but while Kapoor and his (mostly) competent cast sharply enough conjure up some smiling moments, the film squanders the most potentially thrilling aspects of the idea and leaves us with something half-baked. Things fall into place with ridiculous convenience at the end and yet Ranvir, with a bizarrely breathless soliloquy on loving life, more or less saves the moment.It's a fine performance, and one that deserved a better script around it

Where Kapoor’s characters are relatable and the idea of poking fun at life after death is intriguing, it falls sorely short of being explored to its full potential.All the humour in this Rajat Kapoor-directed comedy is what you’ve already seen in the trailer.Fatso is a romantic comedy with lots of romance and only sporadic comedy. Not exactly the best bet to throw your weight behind this weekend.

Are people with layers of extra adipose worthy of being loved? There is a strongly relevant premise at the heart of 'Fatso', in which an overweight character finds his share of light at the end of a fuzzy tunnel. But despite a standout turn from Ranvir Shorey as the eponymous lead, and some nicely realized segments, 'Fatso' comes off flat and tonally confused.

The beautiful love story of Naveen  and Nandini  hits rock bottom, when Naveen meets with an accident and dies on the spot. But, thankfully, his soul gets the golden opportunity to comeback, as the modern day Yamraj picks him up instead of his fatso friend Sudeep , who actually had to bid good bye to life. As Naveen’s body is burnt to ashes, the only way he can return to his sweetheart is by getting into Sudeep’s body, who ought to die. Will Nandini recognise Naveen, who's entered Sudeep's body is the rest of the story!The overtly dragged screenplay further does the needful to bore one to death. Direction is the only saving grace for the film, as Rajat Kapoor intelligently tackles the bizarre plot. Fatso rides on the shoulders of Rajat Kapoor’s direction and Ranvir Shorey’s performance. A confusing screenplay, poor writing and music and impactless dialogues leave Fatso in a very uncomfortable position.Overall, Fatso falls flat in its narrative, which makes it a dull affair. It's strictly a one time watch.
