Murder 3 is mostly clunky and never works as a satisfying edge-of-your seat thriller. The tense moments are all second-hand stuff that you’ve seen many times before, and the characters so superficially written that they’re hard to care for. Sex, crime, and supernatural thrills have been staple ingredients of the films produced by the Bhatts, otherwise known as Bollywood’s favorite B-movie merchants. In his directorial debut Murder 3, Vishesh Bhatt, son of longtime producer Mukesh Bhatt, relies on all three of those staples, but blends them with some bizarre ideas to create an unusual cocktail that doesn’t quite deliver the desired kick.I’m going with two out of five for Murder 3. MURDER 3 is a thriller that offers thrills and chills aplenty. The beauty of the film lies in the fact that it's so damn unpredictable, so unforeseeable in its second hour. It's nothing like you've seen in a Hindi movie thus far. Also, it's a plot-driven movie, with Vishesh not borrowing anything from the previous two MURDERs. It goes without saying that MURDER 3 stands tall for its substance and most significantly, for the sparkling implementation of the written material. The real twist comes to the fore towards the middle of the second hour, while the culmination leaves scope for carrying the franchise forward. On the whole, MURDER 3 is one of the finest thrillers to come out of Vishesh Films. An outstanding story narrated with ferocious enthusiasm. Murder 3 picks up steam in the second half. Debutant director Vishesh Bhatt creates a palpable sense of claustrophobia and panic but the story is so silly that you can't take it seriously. Aditi struggles to bring conviction to her character's strange situation. Loren's main task is to maintain her blowfish lips and show ample skin, which she manages admirably. With more mystery than grisly murders, debutant Vishesh Bhatt works around a story (a remake of a Spanish thriller) that's 'fleshy' enough (minus the sex and eroticism of a 'Murderesque' series) creating an eerie setting, with sombre moods and suspicious characters. He solely relies on the strength of the story without glossed-over effects and style, which is commendable. The first half ghost-walks into a comfort zone (with songs, romance et al); while the second half terrifyingly twists, with raging emotions and shuddering shock value. Murder 3' is a decent remake, the story stands out in this genre. It thrills in spurts but bleeds in parts. This one's no bloody Valentine, but watch it if you like it twisted.Visit Site for more

Subtlety is rarely favoured in our filmmaking where the emphasis is always on noise that lays out cues for fear and false alarms in place of sparking off anxiety through lingering pauses or prudently-timed bursts of sound and thunder. Even so, the curious twist in Andrés Baiz’s creepy drama about the repercussions of guilt and doubt, save Murder 3 from being a complete misfire. Those who’re clueless about the Columbian movie might get a kick out of the big reveal. On the whole, Murder 3 is a fair entertainer but its business will suffer on account of the absence of Emraan Hashmi in the cast. It has taken a dull start almost everywhere and this will come in the way of territorial distributors making profits. As far as the producers are concerned, they’ve already recovered around 75-80% of their investment from sale of satellite and audio rights. Recovery of the balance investment (from territorial theatrical business of the remaining circuits, rights of which are held by themselves) should not be much of a problem for them.Visit Site for more
Murder 3, a thriller that vacillates between the taut to the toxic, packs enough punch and panache to keep the audience glued, if not sweep them off their feet. It tweaks the formula just a tad – it goes somewhat easy on the erotic component of the Murder franchise, opts for a markedly stronger emotional spine, and gives the female characters more than usual space. And there are no maniacs on the prowl. As a result, the twisted thriller does not feel half as manipulative as the first two films in the series. For all its flaws, Murder 3 is most certainly not a film in hopeless freefall. Its lapses are at worst momentary. Murder 3 delivers no grand moments in terms of either style or substance. But the director makes a game effort to give the franchise a makeover, no matter how cosmetic it may appear.Visit Site for more

This third 'Murder', an official remake of South American thriller 'The Hidden Face', has all the Vishesh ingredients, but they've been ordered clumsily : just one mildly spooky moment, and lines that are fall-down-funny, belying what's meant to be a tense build-up. Rao Hydari has shown spark in her earlier films ; here she is buried in bad-make and silliness. We are left to wonder exactly why Loren is in the film; at the very least, she needed a serious voice coach.Visit Site for more

Despite a gripping plot, that’s legally borrowed from Colombian movie ‘The Hidden Face’, the lack of cinematic clarity and any impactful performances, makes ‘Murder 3’ a clumsy thriller. If anything, it does turn, unintentionally, comical at times. The mediocre production value, innumerable sound tracks and a lengthy screenplay further slows down the pace of the film. Although debutant director, and star kid, Vishesh Bhatt picks a not-so-ancient ambitious thriller to spin off his magic on, he visibly lacks the acumen to execute a suspense drama. Take my tip. Debutant director Vishesh Bhatt has done a moderate job of directing this thriller – but it is an exact copy (okay, re-make!) of its Spanish counterpart. The film has its share of thrills and chills in parts, but doesn’t really leave a dent on one’s mind eventually.In a nutshell, ‘Murder 3’ is a onetime watch, only if you are a huge fan of Aditi Rao Hydari.
