Zid Hindi Movie Review

The story had the germs to be made into a taut thriller but the screenplay becomes routine after a point of time. Both, Rohan and Maya, keep screaming and shouting so much that the audience tires of their behaviour. On the whole, Zid lacks the excitement of a suspense thriller. With the songs, human anatomy exposure and the twist in the climax being its only trump cards, its chances at the box-office appear limited, given its dull start.

The only thing Zid has going for it is the atmospheric chills it offers by way of perennially grey skies, dense foliage around the bungalow and beyond, and the sense of distant melancholy the camera lends to the scenes. But I guess that alone doesn't cut it in the erotic thriller genre now, does it?

Absolutely implausible and totally predictable premise. The plot holes outnumber Mumbai's potholes. Zid shares very little in common with its declared inspiration, The Good Neighbour. And maybe, it was done to make it commercially viable. But what do you say about something that starts out as a genuine adaptation from one source to a mishmash. Take an aspirin before walking into this one. Twists and cuckoo-ness apart, it's curiously not that much of a suspense story. You kinda figure that out in the first half itself.

ZID could possibly be the only film so far in Bollywood which doesn't have the director's name in its credits! The storyline of the film begins to confuse the viewer, immediately after the first 15-20 minutes. As the film progresses, the story becomes as predictable as the characters' performances. While the first half of the film is too long, the second half is a bit comparatively bearable, mostly due to the revelation of the suspense and the factors that lead to it. On the whole, ZID is a very average thriller which has no stellar performances or a meaningful storyline.
