Exodus: Gods and Kings English Movie Review

Ratings:2.5/5 Review By: Paloma Sharma Site: Rediff
Exodus is beautifully shot and though Scott recreates a Biblical epic, he does not make it over the top. In a time when every film is needlessly shot in 3D, The film is not a complete waste of the format but definitely is not IMAX worthy. Exodus is bound to rile up believers but it will definitely bore skeptics as soon as the second half begins because although it begins with Moses rebelling, it offers very little insight. Exodus is a good time-pass film. However, if you've watched The Prince of Egypt (1998), then skip this one.

The battles will take your breath away - crashing chariots, splintering spears, flaming arrows, metal against metal and more gore than you'd expect to see. Ramses's cold-blooded disregard for human life is shocking. But then the Ten Plagues unleashed on the Egyptians by God as punishment are unrelenting in their devastation. The Nile runs blood red, overflowing with dead fish. Masses of flies spread dread and disease. Clouds of locusts ravage crops and a sinister shadow of death creeps across the accursed land like a cold hand. Exodus: Gods and Kings is 'spectacle' with a capital 'S' and in more ways than one, definitely epic.

This biblical story has been told time and again but that didn't stop Scott from making another one because he very well knows it's the movie viewing experience that matters. This is Ridley Scott's version of the age old story and even thought it's two and a half hours long, it's simply awesome!

Exodus: Gods and Kings is a brave and remarkable epic about Moses’ courage to take on an empire and rise up against Ramses, the Egyptian Pharaoh who is also his best friend. Exodus: Gods and Kings is a pure visual delight. If you’re zealous about adventure, the Bible, Christian Bale, ghastly plagues, or anything Egyptian, you don’t have to think twice before you go for it.
