Mad About Dance Hindi Movie Review

Ratings:1.5/5 Review By: Hungama News Network Site:Bollywood Hungama
Saahil Prem, who is not just the director of the film, but also its lead actor and story writer, seems to have shot this film in a tearing hurry. Even though he makes a sincere attempt as an actor, he fails miserably as a director. Though the film has been shot in lavish foreign locales and has a blend of western and desi actors, the film fails to create an impact. All in all, MAD ABOUT DANCE is all about amateur acting with mediocre dancing and loud music adding on to the film's woes. No harm in giving it a skip!

Some dance routines (B-boying, locking, popping, break-dance, free-style - Salah Benlemqawanssa & Supple Nam - Kryptic Movement) will arouse cheers, and the dancers are undeniably impressive during the fiery dance face-offs. Yet, for a dance film, it lacks pace, energetic enthusiasm and a good soundtrack. The lead pair burns the dance floor, can't say the same about their romance. Most of the cast dances better than they emote. 'MAD' puts its best foot forward at the end, hold your breath for the last dance. Overall, it's a film for dance lovers. Even if it leaves the heart dancing for more.

Mad About Dance is hardly a pathbreaking film in its genre. While the music and dance routines only come alive towards the end of the movie. All said and done though, if you love dancing and have an ear for British-Punjabi music, watch this movie solely for the extended dance-off towards the end when Dr Zeus makes an appearance too.

If you are looking for novelty, this is not the place to be. We are all more than familiar with the stories of the hero/heroine striving to win a dance/singing/cricket/hockey/etc championship on a world platform and finally managing to show them the Indian mettle in nail biting climax. But MAD has its charm. The first half picks up rather slow and it is only in the second half that you get to see the energy that a dance movie deserves.

Mad About Dance isn’t a pathetic film but it looks like the work of an amateur who is making the film as a film school project. The film hints on too many topics but primarily sticks to racism and dance. Saahil Prem is a good dancer but his lack of ability to bring soul to his character or the film makes the movie a failed attempt.
